2020.09.30 13:48 theworldreviews ‘Strategic autonomy for Europe, the aim of our generation,’ the EU President Charles Michel vision

European strategic autonomy. Or sovereignty? Or power? We all know that concepts and words can take on different connotations depending on the context. The President of the European Council Charles Michel in his speech to the Bruegel think tank focused on on the substance behind the words. “The last three decades, as we have continued to build the European Union, have brought the creation of the single market, the Schengen area, the euro, the great enlargement… And finally, the Treaty of Lisbon, which consolidated our institutional framework”. Michel indicated, stressing that each of these stages has strengthened the European Union and its autonomy.
A cornerstone of the European political agenda has been and remains climate diplomacy. Europe is the vanguard of the fight against climate change. In 2018, a few pioneering countries committed themselves to carbon neutrality by 2050. After that came the struggle to win people over, the mobilisation of civil society and of young people for the climate. And in December 2019, with the support of Ursula von der Leyen’s Green Deal, the 27 member states made the 2050 commitment for the entire European Union. “We firmly conveyed this message to China, including at our recent summit with Xi Jinping”. The president of the European Council explained, noting the Jinping announcement at the UN last week of China’s 2060 commitment crowns a real diplomatic success.
So, why is it more important now than ever for Europe to choose strategic autonomy? “Because the globalised world has changed radically since the end of the Cold War. And because an arc of instability has emerged around us,” Michel said.To the east, the natural and harmless extension of the European democratic space has been brutally halted by Russia in Ukraine. Russia saw it as a major geopolitical threat. That cost Ukraine part of its territory and brought a war in the east that is constantly destabilising the country. Although the context is different, the events in Belarus again highlight the challenge at Europe’s eastern borders.
The president recalled that in the Eastern Mediterranean, Europe faces tensions and unpredictable developments. Libya and Syria are alsosource of insecurity and instability. Greek and Cypriot sovereignty are put under pressure. “Our relationship with Turkey is being severely tested. This is why the next European summit will be dedicated to adopting a strategic European position in relation to the region,” Michel affirmed. The president of the EU Council has recently proposed to hold a multilateral conference on the Eastern Mediterranean to address issues including maritime boundaries, energy, security and migration.
“To the south, Africa. In Europe and among Europe’s leaders, I can feel how much the perception of Africa is changing. Africa’s energy and vitality open up the prospect of an unprecedented alliance. It is up to us, the leaders of Africa and Europe, to make it happen.” Michel continued, affirming that when it comes to alliance of Europe with the United States, beyond common values and historical ties, the EU cannot ignore an increasing number of geopolitical choices that run contrary to its interests, such asweakening multilateralism, withdrawing from the Paris Agreements and pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal.
According to the president of European Council, the strategic autonomy of EU must pursue three objectives: stability, disseminating its standards, and promoting its values. “Stability first and foremost means physical security. It also means environmental security: air quality, access to drinking water, protection of biodiversity, respect for the planet and for the human species,” he explained without forget economic and social security as well. For Michel the second objective is to safeguard the European capacity to set standards such as on the use of chemical substances, the General Data Protection Regulation and on definition of hate speech on the big platforms. The third objective of Michel is to strength the EU economic and social model, which he described as unique, on the bedrock of European values. That gives to the Europeans great legitimacy and makes them hugely attractive in the eyes of many partners around the world.

2020.09.30 13:19 RoleplayBabe 21 F4A fandoms galore!

Hey! Female sub here seeking those 18+ to do some epic fandom roleplays. Please be dominant and please be willing to play canon for oc x canon ships. I will be the canon. I’m looking for partners who do long term stories, third person past tense and a tonne of detail please. Below I will include very basic plots as I want to be able to plot with you in dms! I love plotting a lot and I like to put as much thought as possible into the story! Love triangles are also a must! I can do doubles!
I will also include some basic fandom plots I haven’t yet done and am still working on ideas and plots for. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Office, Reign, Merlin, and I think that’s everything!
Twilight- So for this one I have two ideas. They are probably cliched and over done now since twilight has been around for years. The two are very similar just reversed. I’m thinking maybe the first plot is around my oc who is Jacob Black’s sister. Who unfortunately falls head over heels for Edward despite the rules of the res. I’m thinking maybe she goes to forks high school because she technically isn’t part of the tribe due to her mother- which I will explain in dms. Another idea I had was my oc being Bella’s younger sister, there is more to this one but I’d rather share in dms as the idea is complicated!
Game of thrones- for this one my oc will be the daughter of Robert and Cersei Baratheon. She is engaged to Robb Stark and the plot would surround her trying to bring the north and south together. But due to war where she ends up is entirely up you you! I suppose for this one I’m looking for a GM as we could include Viserys as a villain, but then we could also send her to Dorne like her sisters?
Harry Potter- I have a tonne of cliches for this idea like my oc being Sirius’s daughter. I’ve done this one a few times and it doesn’t feel like an add on to the trio as some ideas can do. I quite like using this oc because of shipping potential. I also really like how she can be included in the trios story with out it feeling forced or add on like. I do also have another idea for an oc who goes back in time to save the Mauraders for those who like that era! The only era really I don’t do is next gen purely because I haven’t had time to read cursed child yet.
Classic novels—
I do also have a tonne of ideas for classic novels and Shakespear plays. Ideally if you’ve seen the most recent adaptions that would be epic!
Romeo and Juliet- Shakespeare’s classic play, two lovers from separate houses who are sworn enemies in medieval Italy. You must know some basics about medieval Italy and you must have read the play please or seen the 2013 movie! In this au I would be looking for a Romeo to play against my oc who would either be a cousin of Juliet’s and a Capulet or Juliet’s sister. I’m thinking in this version Juliet has happily married Count Paris. My oc in this version of events has been given a year by the prince to find a suitable Montague to wed. Since the fighting on the streets has gotten out of hand, tournaments nor balls can bring them together in this Au maybe a wedding can.
Pride and Prejudice- My favourite novel and I am forever desperately seeking a literate Mr Darcy! I do hope some of you out there have read the book or seen the Kiera Knightley version! My oc this time around would be a Bennett sister or a cousin. She might even be Charles Bingley’s sister!

2020.09.29 13:47 wishiwasapeartree Should I be concerned that my partner took money from our joint account to pay for a pricey anniversary meal?

Me (24f) and my partner (28m) have been together for 2 years and just had our 2 year anniversary...
We have a joint account that we use to pay for food etc and we contribute to it equally. My boyfriend makes more than double what I make (over 4 times if you include his yearly bonus).
Essentially, on our anniversary, he took me out for an expensive dinner as the gift. I had no say in where we went etc because he’s always planned big things like that. For our first anniversary he quite literally took me to Paris for my gift paid for transport and the hotel and tickets to a show so pretty insane kind of present.
Obviously covid is a big thing at the moment so going away etc was definitely not on the cards. So I perfectly understood going for dinner together. He never mentioned that we’d basically be going Dutch on this meal and that he’d used the joint account to pay for it.... basically he used what he would have paid for food this month on this 1 meal and were left with half of what we can spend on food this month as of now...
What should I do? I thought this was my anniversary present... and I don’t know whether I should be upset about this or not because I don’t want to be made out like I’m gold digging or something
Also... for reference, he makes 6 figures base... neither of us are bad off, so it’s not like we can’t afford that, I just find it worrying

2020.09.29 13:38 financeoptimum Billionaire Footballers?

Gerard Pique may be the ultimate Chad.
He arrives to games with reckless abandon.
He's 6' 4''.
He's dating Shakira.
He has an IQ of 140.
He has played with the greatest player that ever lived, Lionel Messi, in one of the best club teams to ever grace the game of football.
He is a 4 time Champions League winner.
He is a World Cup winner.
Oh...and he's on track to become a billionaire.
Although Pique has made many millions as an athlete, it is off the pitch where his net worth is set to skyrocket.
In 2017, Pique partnered with Rakuten founder and CEO Hiroshi Mikitani to co-found Kosmos Holding - a holding company and investment group to invest in companies based in the sports, media and entertainment industries.
In 2018, Kosmos struck a partnership with the International Tennis Federation for a 25-year, $3 billion partnership that will transform the Davis Cup and generate substantial revenues for global tennis development.
In that same year, it was announced that Larry Ellison is set to become an investor in the Davis Cup reform project.
Pique is certainly playing with the big boys, and all signs indicate that he is set to add billionaire to his many accolades.
Next we turn our attention to Mathieu Flamini, the former Arsenal midfielder who is currently playing for Spanish side Getafe.
In 2008, Flamini co-founded GFBiochemicals.
Flamini co-founded GFBiochemicals with Pasquale Granata (hence the GF).
It is in fact the first company in the world able to mass-produce levulinic acid directly from biomass - including things such as grass or woodchips.
In 2015, they won the John Sime Award For Most Innovative New Technology.
Flamini's exact net worth is not exactly clear, but, smartly, he has repeatedly rejected the idea that he is the richest footballer in the world.
Now, despite the fact that he is French, although he was born in Marseille not Paris, Flamini seems to be a modest chap who is perhaps downplaying his billionaire status.
Flamini has made sustainability his life goal and with the current climate (pardon the pun), he may have hit the jackpot with his timing, which by the way is one of the most pivotal aspects to start-up success.
Will Flamini sea his net worth rise?
Ahhhhh, these jokes are getting worse...
I should have opened with a climate change joke, it's a good ice breaker...
I could have asked "hey comment your thoughts on climate change". Imagine the engagement.
Nah...it gets too heated.
In a sense, this is probably the future model - instead of leveraging their personal brand and endorsing products for a fee, superstar athletes will increasingly demand equity in more deals or indeed build their own businesses from scratch.

2020.09.28 12:03 samsassistant A stronger and more autonomous European Union powering a fairer world - Speech by President Charles Michel at the UN General Assembly

Full speech:
I speak to you today on behalf of the European Union. A Union founded, like the United Nations, on peaceful cooperation, human rights and fundamental freedoms. We are therefore an unwavering supporter of the United Nations. And of the international organisations to which we join forces for human progress.
This is precisely how we are working with the WHO to defeat Covid-19. Like the whole world, Europe has been hard hit by the pandemic. In the European Union, more than 142,000 people have lost their lives. I salute their memory, and all the Covid-19 victims worldwide. I also pay tribute to all the healthcare professionals that have safeguarded the fabric of our societies.
The crisis caused by the pandemic is unprecedented. It has exacerbated the weaknesses of fragile countries, regions and populations. It has also revealed the fragility of countries that thought they were strong. It has thrown us all into the same sudden battle, against the same common enemy.
The European Union, for its part, has been at the forefront of international cooperation which has raised nearly 16 billion euros to finance the research and the deployment of vaccines, tests and treatments. And we are mobilized, alongside all the players involved, to ensure that these vaccines and treatments are universally accessible and affordable.
Each nation and each leader has the duty to reflect on the best way to contribute to our common objective. This is true in the fight against the current crisis, as in all global challenges. Kofi Annan said: "To become a good citizen, start in your own community!" It's in this vein that I want to explain why the European Union wants to become stronger and strategically autonomous, alongside an open market. Stronger not only for itself. But also to better contribute to a better world. The crisis has made this goal even more essential. It has awakened a new collective responsibility, to build back better and greener…
Before the crisis, Europe had already embarked on a path of fundamental transformation. For example, by deciding to become the first carbon-neutral continent by 2050. Or by adopting an ambitious digital agenda, in line with our fundamental values.
This pandemic has increased our determination to transform our economies and societies tenfold. 540 billion euros have been mobilized for urgent measures from the outset. Then, in July, the European Council decided to mobilise ambitious and unprecedented financial resources: more than 1.8 trillion euros for the coming years, including 750 billion euros raised via the issuance of European Union bonds, unprecedented in its nature and size. With this historic decision, we have come together, united and strong, to better assume our responsibilities.
Responsibility begins by seeing things as they are, and not as we would like them to be. In today's world, the abuse of force, both military and economic, too often supplants argumentation and negotiation. Respect for treaties, a basic principle of international law, comes to be considered optional even by those who, until recently, were its historical guarantors. All this in the name of partisan interests.
More than ever, the European Union is defending the rules-based international order and cooperation based on universal values. The European Union wants to be stronger, more autonomous, and firmer, to defend a fairer world. And it is in this spirit that we lead the implementation of the Paris Agreements. And that we have already integrated the objectives of the 2030 Agenda into our system of economic governance.
We are now developing these values and this open model with greater awareness of our strength, with more realism, and perhaps less naivety. We have faith in the virtues of free and open economies, never in protectionism. But access to our large market - the second largest economic zone in the world, and the first in terms of international trade - will no longer be sold off. From now on, we will better enforce the level playing field, in a market open to those who respect its standards. Whether they leave our Union or want to move closer to it.
The European Union is also committed to advancing overall tax fairness, in particular in the digital sector. Large-scale activities carried out in this area can no longer escape fair taxation. The European Union is committed, alongside the OECD and the G20, to international cooperation to correct this injustice.
The European Union is an actor for peace and progress, which wants to mobilise its influence and strength to make others more robust as well.
We support the six partners of the Western Balkans in their transformation and integration. We have reaffirmed their European perspective. And we have just decided to open accession negotiations with two more countries among them: Albania and the Republic of North Macedonia.
Through the Eastern Partnership, we are developing our relations with six countries in our neighbourhood. Notably with a view to strengthening institutions and the rule of law. In Belarus, the last presidential election was falsified. We do not accept the results. And we condemn the violent repression of the opposition and of peaceful demonstrations. Repression and intimidation must stop, and all those responsible must be held accountable and sanctioned. We stand with the Belarusian people who must be free, without any external coercion, to choose their own future. Inclusive national dialogue, with OSCE facilitation, is the only realistic path forward.
Fighting impunity also means demanding an independent and credible investigation when the Russian opposition leader Navalny is the victim of an assassination attempt with chemical weapons.
The European Union is also on the side of the Venezuelan people. That is why we are working with the International Contact Group for a peaceful and negotiated solution that must include free, credible and fair elections.
The relationship between Europe and Africa will, I am sure, be the backbone of a fairer and stronger world. Together, we represent some 80 nations and 1.7 billion citizens in this Assembly, the vast majority of whom are among the youngest on the planet. Our two continents have never been so interdependent, for better or for worse. To acknowledge this is neither sterile Afro-pessimism nor naive Afro-optimism. It is to recognize that this interdependence is also a calling. It is to recognize that a strong Europe needs a strong Africa, and vice versa. The potential is huge. Investing, innovating, developing infrastructure, promoting education, supporting health systems: this is the key to forging a mutually beneficial partnership. Let us get inspired by the power of the African concept of Ubuntu: the way of thinking that my humanity is inextricably linked to yours, our destinies are linked, and our individual actions succeed only if they make sense for the common good. This principle of Ubuntu is also the reason for my renewed call to settle the question of debts of the poorest countries, in a spirit of solidarity, that also takes into account the effects of the pandemic.
The European Union is concerned about tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean. Unilateral actions and violations of international law must absolutely stop. Together with our Member States, we are undertaking intensive diplomatic efforts to defuse tensions and to promote dialogue. In this spirit, I have proposed the organization of a multilateral conference on the Eastern Mediterranean, in conjunction with the United Nations. Many actors have already responded positively and are ready to discuss the modalities, the agenda and the timetable. Maritime delimitations, security, energy issues, and migration are some of the topics that I believe should be addressed.
We also support the efforts of the United Nations, and where involved, regional organizations, like in Libya or Syria.
The Iran Nuclear Deal remains key for global non-proliferation and regional security. It is therefore essential to preserve the JCPOA and for all parties to fully implement it. The agreement endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2231 remains in place and for us there is no doubt that the sanctions lifting commitments under the agreement continue to apply. While we strongly support the preservation of the Iran deal, we continue to firmly address other concerns, such as the domestic and the regional situation.
We also welcome the start of intra-Afghan negotiations and will support a lasting peace.
In a tormented region, the issue of peace between Palestinians and Israelis remains more timely than ever. We must continue to support the legitimate aspirations of both parties. And we remain firmly committed to the two-state solution. We will spare no effort with our international partners, including the Quartet, to facilitate the return of Israelis and Palestinians to the negotiating table, to find a negotiated solution within internationally agreed parameters. For our commitment to international law and UN resolutions is unwavering. At the same time, we welcome Israel's rapprochement with countries in the region as a positive development for peace and stability in the Middle East.
Since I became President of the European Council, I have often been asked a question that is both simple and brutal: "In the new rivalry between the United States and China, which side is the European Union on?" My answer is the following...
We are deeply connected with the United States. We share ideals, values and a mutual affection that have been strengthened through the trials of history. They remain embodied today in a vital transatlantic alliance. This does not prevent us from occasionally having divergent approaches or interests.
We do not share the values on which the political and economic system in China is based. And we will not stop promoting respect for universal human rights. Including those of minorities such as the Uighurs. Or in Hong Kong, where international commitments guaranteeing the rule of law and democracy are being questioned.
China is a crucial partner in addressing common challenges, such as global warming, Covid-19 or debt relief in Africa. And China is also an important trade partner. Yet we are determined to rebalance this relationship towards greater reciprocity and fairer competition. A spirit that we are also cultivating with ASEAN members, with which we will continue to deepen our relationship.
We stand on the side of the fundamental values of democracy, human rights, the rule of law and cooperation. It's our compass to pursue our interests. The European Union is an autonomous force, master of our choices, master of our destiny.
Finally, on behalf of the European Union, I want to reaffirm this essential conviction: there can be no progress without progress in women's empowerment. Discrimination against women remains one of the major obstacles to development. We must fight this relentlessly. Equality between men and women, as well as the protection of diversity, particularly sexual diversity, remains one of the major challenges of our time.
The European Union will continue to be a driving force for multilateralism and the rules-based international order. Our support for the UN remains as strong as ever, and we will continue to support the implementation of the Secretary General's reforms. Because we need a strengthened and effective multilateral system. This requires an even stronger UN to deliver results that advance world peace. Europe, stronger and more resolute, will be at your side to make the world a better and fairer place to live. Thank you.

Ministère de l'Europe et des Affaires étrangères

Paris, France

Seeking to establish an ever-closer relationship with our partners in Dakar and throughout sub saharan Africa, one of the most important areas we see in strengthening our bond is that of enhancing ties to one another in trade and bilateral economic activity. Dispatching Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness Franck Riester to Dakar, the French government wishes to propose a number of offers to Senegal which will bring us closer together and strengthen the economy of Senegal. Travelling alongside Minister Delegate Riester are members of the EFS (Éléments français au Sénégal) command and representatives from a number of financial institutions.

Beginning with the proposals by Minister Delegate Riester and his financial partners, a number of French investment conglomerates would like to finance renovations to the Autonomous Port of Dakar, with French multinationals being primarily interested in enhancing port facilities through the purchase of additional Panamax cranes, construction of additional berths, and the development of local infrastructure surrounding the port and leading into it. We hope a small resupply facility for vessels of the Marine Nationale could as well be established here. This facility could as well serve as a joint training area between France and Senegal in combating piracy.
Additional proposals on the economic front include an interest by Crédit Agricole to initiate an investment scheme which will pour $350,000,000 into rebuilding and redeveloping Compagnie Sucrière Sénégalaise, a private Senegalese sugar producer and refiner. Crédit Agricole would garner a 38% stake in the company. With this we hope to upgrade almost every aspect of the company from workers pay and transportation, refinement of sugar, and transport of the product itself. Crédit Agricole as well is interested in a 46.5% share in SUNEOR, Senegal’s most prominent producer of peanuts. Current preliminary planning by the company indicates a desire to invest $1.1bn into the peanut industry of Senegal, which will significantly enhance production, work to improve worker conditions and pay, and overall boost Senegalese imports to a much higher degree. Additionally, firms including BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole, Société Générale, and the Agence Française de Développement are all significantly interested in the development of Senegal’s rail infrastructure, seeking to expand and invest in the country’s capacity for goods and passenger transportation. SocGen is planning an offer to buy Transrail from the Belgian Vecturis, and with the Senegalese government’s support will reform Transrail to expand its coverage and actual capability immensely. Would the Senegalese government be willing to offer any grants for the expansion of coverage in the future?

Swaying to matters of defense and security cooperation, France is steadfast in its commitment to helping our brothers and sisters in Dakar maintain a fruitful environment for peace in Senegal itself and the region at large. That said, we wish to offer the deployment of the FS Courbet to assist in patrolling the territorial waters of Senegal for a three-month deployment. The Courbet will as well assist in general anti-piracy training missions with the Senegalese navy. In addition, we seek permission to establish a small operations center just a few miles north of Saraya to be used as an airstrip for refueling, unmanned reconnaissance, and signals intelligence. The center would have no more than 40 service members present at a time with the exception of when in states of high-activity.

We hope these proposals interest our friends in Dakar, and hope to hear from you soon.

2020.09.26 23:29 EleventhTry [DIPLOMACY] Paris - Rome, 2021

Ministère de l'Europe et des Affaires étrangères

Paris, France

It has been well understood in political circles in France and Italy, as well as throughout the European Union in general, that the relationship shared between our two nations has significantly decayed since 2018. Tensions between Rome and Paris have been relatively uneasy for states who are one of each other’s most important trading partners, as well as sworn allies through the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the European Union, and despite significant improvement since the onset of the global pandemic neither state has officially moved to reaffirm our friendship in what has been a hard three years for both our states.
Having stated that the French ambassador to Italy Christian Masset would return “very soon” in 2019, such a development hasn’t occurred due to internal political troubles with the pandemic as an aggravating factor. We hope to finally right this and dispatch the ambassador back to the Palazzo Farnese immediately should you agree with this sentiment. We kindly ask that in the future, the Italian government and individual representatives of it would refrain from becoming entangled in French internal affairs, such as the ongoing Yellow Vest movement so that a crisis in our relationship such as this will not reoccur.

2020.09.26 20:57 FeniaBukharina Krasnacht Transmission #5: Auferstanden aus Ruinen

Auferstanden aus Ruinen

Welcome to our fifth transmission for the mod! This transmission will, like the #3 and #4, be 'lite'. This is our third and final transmission in our series providing an overview on and background lore of the socialist nations of north and western Europe. We started with France and Britain, then we continued with Italy and the Iberia, today with finish off with Germany, and the International Mandates of Belgium and the Netherlands. Enjoy!

Belgium

Hello! It’s Doorhanger93, here to tell you all about Europe's favorite multilingual battleground. More specifically, I’ll reveal about how it fared in both wars, where it stands in 1950, and give you some hints as to where it's headed.
The Kingdom of Belgium entered the first world war unified and confident, but left it shattered and divided. Despite the valiant efforts of the ‘Soldier-King’ Albert I and his army to delay the Germans, by 1918 Belgium was no more. Her colonies were stripped, her industry lay in ruin, and her exhausted people were forced under the jackboot of the German pawn kingdom known as “Flanders-Wallonia”. Belgium’s diminutive neighbor, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, fared even worse, being completely subjugated to the Kaiser as a vassal of the Reich. However, both countries’ fates were tied together after the Germans granted the predominantly Walloon region of Belgian Luxembourg back to the Grand Duchy, reversing a treaty that had held for eight decades.
In the immediate aftermath of the Weltkrieg, much of the population found themselves unemployed, as Belgian industry was still war-torn. A series of “Flamenpolitik” laws were implemented, continuing from Germany’s wartime policy to divide Belgium under the pretense of Flemish liberation from the extensively French-chauvinist former Belgian kingdom. These laws heavily favored the Dutch-speaking Flemish over the French-speaking Waloons, and so in order to keep up their pretense of liberation, Germany devised the federal system of the Kingdom of Flanders-Wallonia, giving extensive legal and linguistic autonomy to both sides, with French-speakers in Flanders, including the capital, Brussels, forced into bilingualism.
For a while, it seemed as though these laws would have the opposite intended effect, strengthening Belgian unity to spite the German occupier, however as the German belt loosened and the wounds of the war healed, there was a small Flemish renaissance. For the first time, rural Flemings could migrate to the cities without learning French, find work in the newly bustling Flemish port cities; taking in goods from all over the world and sending them all over Mitteleuropa, and they could receive full educations in their own language - Flanders had, at least, established itself as an identity rather than a rural backwater.
Meanwhile, the economic situation in Wallonia had still failed to recover. Not only did they now face competition from Germany, but industry had also been brought up by Germans, eager German migrants had come to work the new industrial frontier, and some factories had outright been shipped away to the Reich - as the Flemish ports benefited from the low trade barriers of Mitteleuropa, Walloon industry was paying the price. This situation was fertile ground for the growth of socialism, emboldened, radicalized, and backed by the French revolutionaries across the border. Also, while Belgian nationality still held strong, a Walloon identity was slowly developing in reaction to the rise of the Flanders, which now dominated the supposedly “equal” federation.
In Luxembourg, the situation was even worse, with extensive Germanisation campaigns excluding Luxembourgish as a mere dialect, encouraging widespread German immigration and the encroachment of German capital, threatening the livelihood of Luxembourgers and even the Walloons of Belgian Luxembourg.
By 1938, due to efforts jump-started by the economic shattering of Black Monday, some signs of a genuine recovery were beginning to show themselves, albeit slowly, due to the continued German dominance of industry. Unemployment figures were finally starting to improve, and public unrest towards the federal kingdom started to wind down. However, the population was still far from content, with distrust over the language barrier still fomenting, and “Belgianists” were still present all over the political spectrum; Old-Monarchists, Socialists, Republicans, and more. Although they couldn’t agree how a new Belgium would be organized, all Belgianists still opposed the status quo and the German domination of public affairs.
Then came an infamous day, on the 10th of September, 1939. After a decade of extreme tension, the recently politically upheaved French Communal Republic issued an ultimatum to the German Empire, demanding an end to the repression of German trade unions and the recognition of the new communard government. When the Germans inevitably refused, Belgian blood ran cold. The people of the “battleground of Europe” sunk into despair. As riots and strikes broke out, King Adalbert reluctantly mustered the army. Another European war had come to their strategically located homeland, and the Belgian people wanted no part in it; except for some radical Germanophiles and socialists, the country was once again united in its opposition.
The war rolled over the small kingdom, spreading annihilation wherever it went. Old wounds were opened, oozing gashes where Belgian pride ran like blood. Many family homes were simply turned to ash and dust, and newly-repaired factories were transformed into jagged, flaming ruins, destroyed by British bombers, French tanks, and German artillery.
The Belgian army under Aldebert was no match for France and Britain, and mostly served to assist the German army. Eventually, in 1943, after the Russian invasion of the Reichspakt, the socialists would force their way across the low country as Dutch recruits joined the brutal fight, to no avail.
After the front lines finally pushed east into Germany, the populace was almost granted their wish: the Kingdom of Flanders Wallonia and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg were no more, but in their place were the mere shattered remains of nations, administered by their new socialist occupiers through the “International Reconstruction Mandate for Belgium”, overseen by the “Council for the Reconstruction of Belgium”, an organization of Flemish, Walloon, and Luxembourgish left-wing leaders along with Franco-British military men, created to rebuild the destroyed countries and prepare for their eventual return to civilian rule.
Even after the fighting had moved east, further strife would come to Belgium as the frontlines seesawed back and forth and Germany grew ever more desperate to stem the flow of supplies arriving in Antwerp. When the Luftstreitkrafte's bomber command could no longer muster the planes to reliably raid the ports and the Kaiserliche Marine found itself penned in by the threat of air power and lack of fuel; Germany turned to rocketry. The products of Werner von Braun's programs would rain down repeatedly on Antwerp in a final, vain effort to turn the tide of war. But soon this threat too would cease as the socialists pushed deep into the heart of the Reich itself. Many Belgian volunteers are indeed proud to say that the Vandervelde Division took part in the final offensive at Berlin, and were there for the final curtain-fall on the German Empire. Though no city in the world had suffered more from the rocket scourge than Antwerp, the city survived and would continue the process of healing.
In 1950, Belgium sits in political limbo, while the reconstruction efforts are all but finished, the fundamental and difficult questions of state have been bogged down in the Mandate’s bureaucracy. However, new elections are soon to be held, and many suspect this will be the election that will draw up the new constitution. The Belgian Communist Party, of the now famous hero Julien Lahaut, is set to win thanks to its popularity in lieu of any reactionary options. However, politics is a fickle thing, and lady fate may have other plans...

Netherlands

Now it’s time to talk about the land of dikes and windmills, of canals and clogs, and the land of Rembrandt, van Leeuwenhoek and van Gogh, the Netherlands.
The Dutch were unaffected by the devastation and horrors of the First World War thanks to their strictly neutral foreign policy, and the nation remained mostly in peace. Though affected by the Entente's blockade of the North Sea, the Dutch persevered, and life mostly returned to normal following the Peace with Honour. The return of shipments from overseas following the breaking of the Entente's blockade had even engendered a minor upswing in pro-German sentiment, due to German success bringing prosperity to the low country.
In 1925, the conservative “Anti-Revolutionaire Partij” or ARP, would be re-elected in coalition with multiple Christian parties, with the ARP’s Hendrikus Colijn replacing Ruijs de Beerenbrouck, from the allied Roomsch-Katholieke Staatspartij (RKSP), as Premier. The British revolution would, of course, deeply affect the Netherlands; as the global economy collapsed, the Dutch were forced to cling ever more tightly to the Germans to shield them from the collapse and subsequent revolutionary agitation. With heavily protected Mitteleuropan trade, the Dutch managed to just about push through the economic collapse, further deepening ties with the Reich.
Colijn would eventually be re-appointed as Premier in 1933, and again in 1935. As the Glorious Nivose reached its peak in France in 1936, the Dutch left would fall into conflict, with many in the Revolutionair-Socialistische Arbeiderspartij (RSAP) leaving, in opposition to the party’s pro-Nivose stance, to join the Sociaal-Democratische Arbeiderspartij (SDAP) or other parties. This allowed frustrated pro-Nivose members of the party derided as “Patriotten” to join the RSAP, including David Wijnkoop and Paul de Groot. When Black Monday hit the Netherlands in 1936, Premier Colijn responded with a policy of strict austerity and privatization, aiming to reduce unemployment following the advice of liberal economists. However, these disastrous measures only served to lengthen the economic crisis, and the German behemoth which had saved the Dutch last time was now the epicentre of the collapse. In the same year, following the resignation of the Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies, Cornelis de Jonge, the Insulindians revolted, led by "the Scorpion" Soenario Sastrowardoyo. This crisis in the Indies forced Colijn to appoint the VNH member, Admiral Johan Furstner, to become the next Governor-General. Despite being hit by two crises simultaneously, Colijn and the ARP coalition would triumph once more in the 1937 elections, although only by narrow margins, a worrying trend caused by rising popularity of both the far-right and of socialist organizations.
Realizing his tenuous position and the growth of political unrest, especially from the left, Colijn amended the Civil Servant Prohibition, a law that prohibited civil servants from joining any "radical" parties. He also supported the conservative Christian trade unions, in an attempt to pull workers from socialist unions into organizations that would collaborate with the government and with business, rather than agitating against both. Lastly, he quietly, slowly, and surely cracked down on the left-moving SDAP, hoping to consolidate more power around the ARP.
In 1939, the situation improved for Colijn. Furstner, with the help of generals Berenschot and ter Poorten, had defeated the Insulindians, the economy showed signs of recovery, and the ARP coalition won yet again in the 1939 elections, having now been in power for more than two decades. But as September came, war erupted between France and the German Empire.
Colijn and his government, growing ever-frightened of the socialists, started taking drastic measures to contain the situation. Perhaps most visible were their efforts to arrest major leftist leaders, such as David Wijnkoop, Lou de Visser and Henk Sneevliet of the RSAP. Eventually, they banned the RSAP and other leftist organizations altogether in 1940, forcing them underground, while the country prepared for war measures.
The neutral Netherlands had become a safe haven for the right-wing, but the Kingdom still suffered from the British trade war in the North Sea, and became even more dependent on the Germans for basic imports. This situation would lead to the Dutch effectively becoming participants in the war, supplying men and materiel for the German war effort, while still maintaining official neutrality - that is, until the Russian invasion of the east in 1943. As troops were desperately shuffled from the western front, the Reich finally, and very firmly, demanded that the Dutch join the war proper, in order to take up the slack. Left with no other choice, the Kingdom joined the great Crusade against Socialism.
However, this would prove a dangerous decision; as the Heer was stretched over two fronts, the Franco-British army exploited the disorganization to launch a large offensive, successfully recovering French territory and eventually pushing into Germany and Flanders-Wallonia. By 1944, the Netherlands were laid bare, with socialist forces pushing into the border and German help becoming ever more limited. By 1945, Amsterdam would fall. With some of their members captured and imprisoned, and Coljin himself dead of a heart attack in 1944, the ARP, the RKSP, the VDB, and many other parties were forced underground, alongside remnants of the Dutch army, forming resistance groups all around the country who prayed for the Germans to seize the country back in a counter-attack. Promising to one day return, the members of the VNH escaped to the East Indies to seek refuge within Admiral Furstner's new domain.
The counter-attack that the Dutch right had hoped for would not come. Though at times the Germans managed to seize back portions of the country in the fighting around the North European plains, the fuel situation now decisively favored the INFOR with the flow of oil from the newly established Commonwealth of America to the revolutionaries. Now it was the Germans' turn to find their forces frustrated by ever-diminishing fuel reserves, as all access points for fresh oil were gradually cut off one after the other. The Ardennes offensive of late 1944 and early 1945 would be repulsed before the Germans could reach Amsterdam, ground down just outside of shelling range. The following summer offensive of operation Hexenhammer in the autumn of that year would be the last roll of the dice in the North European plains for Germany and would see Germany's North Sea coast liberated in the aftermath. This defeat brought the end of Germany's foothold in Frisia alongside all hope for the restoration of the Dutch government.
As the front lines were pushed out of the Netherlands proper, INFOR would create the Raad voor de Wederopbouw van Nederland (RWN) or the “Council for the Reconstruction of the Netherlands” - colloquially known as “de Raad” or “the Council” by the populace - from prominent Dutch left-wing politicians and INFOR military officials. The Council would form the governing body of the International Mandate for the Reconstruction of the Netherlands; like the Belgian Mandate to the south, this organisation was aimed to rebuild a new, socialist Netherlands, although Dutch politics proved tricky to navigate for the socialists.
Being the last vestiges of the pre-war Netherlands before the Franco-British invasion, the SDAP's popularity soared, however, internal disagreement over the occupation forced the party to split in two. While the remaining SDAP is led by the legendary Willem Drees and pragmatically supports and participates in the Council, the Democratische Arbeiderspartij (DAP), led by former underground leader Jaap Burger, abstains from the Council, claiming the Mandate to be an undemocratic occupation.
However, the more far-left RSAP (Revolutionair-Sosialistische Arbeidspartij) has many internal struggles, becoming a broad front for pro-France socialists after the Glorious Nivose has left it with little internal cohesion, and the fast rise to prominence after the party’s inclusion in the RWN has left it with a tentative support base. After the death of David Wijnkoop in 1947 and Henk Sneevliet in 1949, the leadership of the party has changed, with the “Volksgroep” faction now led by the famous underground leader, Paul de Groot, and the “Arbeidsgroep” faction now led by Henk Sneevliet's disciple Abraham Menist, and the “broad-front” is almost certainly headed for a split.
The parties in the RWN are seen by much of the public as puppets of INFOR, and this section of the public has come to either support the DAP or even join the underground anti-socialist resistance, in the hopes that perhaps the Russians or someone else may drive out the reds. This large-scale public apathy and rebellion has bogged down any attempt to return the Netherlands to sovereignty, and four years after the end of the war in Europe, the Mandate remains.
The Council now has two main problems that it has to deal with. First, it has to fight the aforementioned reactionary partisans, who have disrupted the general peace in the country and present a means for the SARPAC to prod into western Europe. Secondly, the Council must complete their "Doorbraak", or Breakthrough, project, aimed at destroying the “Zuilen” or "Pillars", established by the ARP's founder Abraham Kuyper, that divide Dutch society and reinforce reactionary organization.
If the Council is successful in dealing with their preliminary problems, then finally the seemingly perpetual Mandate may give way to a new and stronger Netherlands, reborn from the ashes of war. However, if these issues are not dealt with delicately, even greater issues may arise…

Germany

Guten Tag und Willkommen! This is Marsworms, here to explain and explore the lore and history of the heart of imperialist Europe, and the newly established socialist state that has arisen from the ruins of total war. Germany, the birthplace of both Karl Marx and Bismarck, sits at the heart of Europe, and at the heart of the Great Revolutionary War that ushered in the new era.
At the open of 1939, Germany sat at the head of a burgeoning empire spanning Europe, Africa and Asia, with influence from Dunkirk to Tahiti, the ageing Wilhelm II as its Emperor and the well-liked leader of the Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands, Otto Wels, as its Reichskanzler. The SPD was elected with their promises of social reform and welfare programs, of support for labor in the face of the economic struggles in the aftermath of Black Monday. SPD-affiliated labor unions, the so-called “Free Unions”, were encouraged to negotiate with employers and even enjoyed some state sanction for their small scale strikes. At the same time, regional governments passed law after law restricting labor, leading to these movements looking ever more to the SPD. Otto Wels had learned from what he saw in the economic downturn of America, and seeing the United States tear itself apart limb from limb prompted him to lean harder on his party’s claimed support of the workers.
By 1939, however, something was becoming increasingly apparent. In essence, the increase in labor strikes was being taken advantage of by enemies of the state, seditious communists and left-leaning SPD members willing to work with them. In August of 1939, this rose to the forefront when a strike by a collection of Free Unions in the industrial Ruhr was taken over by Heinrich Brandler, a trade unionist with known affiliations with the Deutsche Organisation der International. Striking for better work hours and working conditions, what was originally a small-scale event ballooned into DOI-affiliated unions shutting down workplaces and working together with the Free Unions in rapid, radical action which forced the Chancellor’s hand. Otto Wels ordered the strike shut down, and militarized police were sent in, arresting all of the trade unionist leaders, both SPD allies and DOI operatives, including the so-called “prisoner of the Ruhr”, Heinrich Brandler himself, while killing dozens of striking workers in the chaos.
With the Ruhr under effective occupation by the police, the violent repression of the strike sent shockwaves through the German Empire, prompting protests across the country. One of the most notable was centered on Nanzig, captured from the French in the aftermath of the great war, where a mixture of French socialists, trade unionists, and nationalists marched in the streets against both the repression that they saw in the occupied Ruhr, and their continued German occupation. The demonstrations began on the 19th of August, and just as quickly as they began, they were violently put down, with the highly autonomous police chief of Nanzig, Ernst Damzog, arresting hundreds of demonstrators and ordering the extrajudicial murders of several of the most prominent, and most leftist, among them. Parisian newspapers reported on the four-day long incident, with the front pages of newspapers emblazoned with the faces of the “Martyrs of Nancy”, especially that of Eugène Dieudonné, an infamous French anarchist revolutionary, who was visiting his hometown in Nanzig when the demonstrations began. One week after the incident, Chairman Pierre Besnard issued what would later be known as the “Brandler-Dieudonné Ultimatum” in France and the "September Demands" in Germany. The very next day, the foreign ministry of Kaiser Wilhelm II rejected the ultimatum, prompting France to declare war on September 15th, 1939.
Reichskanzler Otto Wels and Kaiser Wilhelm II, along with the skillful propagandistic media of the Kaiserreich, rallied the German people around war with France, using the Communal Republic’s declaration of war to their advantage. Even some left-leaning social democrats and union leaders were in support of the war effort, and the front-lines seeming to inch in Germany's favor reassured the people in distant Berlin or Konigsberg that all would be well. Then, only two weeks into the war, Reichskanzler Otto Wels died, succumbing to stress-induced illness brought on by his years as Chancellor. With their leadership gone and the war looming large in the minds of the politicians, the SPD’s dominant plurality became unimportant, allowing Kaiser Wilhelm II to establish a nonpartisan war government under newly appointed Reichskanzler Franz von Papen.
The years of the Papen Government would be dominated by military affairs, with martial law declared across the whole region of Elsaß-Lothringen and surprisingly successful Franco-British offensives into Flanders-Wallonia fended off by sheer German force of arms, manned by reserves called up from the Reichspakt. The outskirts of Nanzig were the site of battle after battle as the French forces attempted to capture the city in their struggle for the Northern European plains, but little progress was made. In the capital, the average Berliner thought little of the war, glad to see every victory against the French menace reported in their newspapers.
The first crack in the German armor would come with the success of the British on the water. Hopelessly out-resourced by Germany, the fuel-starved Republican Navy made no attempt to “win” the naval war, and instead dedicated itself to the task of making things as difficult for the Kaiserliche Marine as possible, without wasting ships and fuel in direct combat and making use of the increasing potency of air power which Britain believed, quite rightfully, had evolved to the point of being able to be a powerful instrument of sea warfare, especially against a foe that still believed that airpower was secondary to the might of big gun battleships.
Then, after two years of German successes in Belgium and standoffs in Nanzig, Kaiser Wilhelm II died. On the 4th of June, 1941, the head of the German Empire was no more, succeeded by his far less popular and infamously tactless son Wilhelm III. The Kaiser’s death brought with it not just national mourning, but also protests and organizing on the part of opposition groups around the Empire when combined with the onset of rationing following the naval setbacks in the North Atlantic. Bavarian nationalists, fearful of a potential breakup of the Zentrum-dominated nonpartisan coalition, protested in Munich. Free unions in Prussia went on strike against the undoing of the SPD-era labor laws. Uncertainty dominated politics following the Kaiser’s death, and Wilhelm III was approached by just the man who could allay these uncertainties: Kurt von Schleicher, a famous marshal and staunch ally of the monarchy.
Yet another government, the third in the span of just as many years, was inaugurated in late June 1941. The new appointment saw the Reichstag sidelined, as a cabinet of zealous military men was convened. Martial law was declared across vast swathes of the Empire, with mass arrests and rushed kangaroo court convictions of political opponents hidden by the new national media apparatus of Alfred Hugenburg. The butcher of Nanzig, Ernst Damzog, was pardoned and released from jail by Kaiser Wilhelm III on the advice of Reichskanzler von Schleicher, to be sent to fight on the front with France. The entire state apparatus of the German Empire turned to war, and while the instability and demoralization prompted by the death of the beloved Kaiser Wilhelm II and allowed for some Socialist victories, the mass mobilization of the whole of the Reichspakt under Schleicher managed to beat back the French.
For the next two years, the front line continued shifting, never turning into the entrenchment that so defined the last war, primarily due to British and French bombing campaigns past the front and the new mobility afforded by motorization, however no side ever seemed to make any great gains. Some blamed this stagnation in part on the surprising strength of the Franco-British Air Forces, which combined were almost a match for the venerable Luftstreitkräfte, however others decided that a simply more aggressive strategy was needed.
A revitalized German push under the leadership of Generalfeldmarschall Fedor von Bock and Hermann Hoth broke the French defense along near Nanzig, and managed to push all the way to Verdun, however this advance was stalled and repelled in a heroic defense of the city by French forces. After this failure, more bad news began to trickle from other fronts in this global war against socialism: the remainder of the loyalist forces in the former United States and Canada were all but eliminated, and a red America now posed the huge threat of replenishing dwindling International supplies, especially oil, the German favored Zhili clique was beginning to be worn down by the leftist Kuomintang, and Subhas Chandra Bose's Bharatiyan forces were increasingly clearly the inevitable victors of the wars in India. Perhaps even worse, all the Entente's efforts to open up a second front had proven to be failures; leading to German High Command to lament that they were forced to partner with a pack of "Nostalgist Failures and Daydreaming Good-For-Nothings".
And in an unsung but crucial factor, Germany's cult of the Fighter Ace, instilled by the legendary Manfred von Richthofen, was proving to be an Achilles’ heel for its air force. Ace pilots were rarely rotated out to pass their skills onto their comrades and each one that fell took nearly all their skills with them to the grave. Graves that they all too often helped themselves into through a dangerous obsession with inflating their scores as much as possible. All so that they could bask in fame and glory as Germany's propaganda machine made its aces into virtual gods before the eyes of the German public. Meanwhile, the most successful of INFOR pilots would be pulled back to teach what they learned to the next generation. As the skill of Germany's pilots slowly but surely whittled, the INFOR's pilots only became better and better. Though Germany kept pace in terms of numbers of airplanes and the quality of its aircraft, the men behind the machines were falling ever further behind their enemies and the German air force found itself losing control of the skies.
1943 is widely considered the turning point in the war, where Germany truly began to lose. Between 1939 and 1943, for four years, the front was relatively stagnant, seesawing continually without much in the way of permanent gain and Germany had reason to be confident in its superior manpower and greater available industry even if cracks were showing.
With the Russian entry into the war, the entire German war machine had to be restructured, as it was plagued by the increasing dissatisfaction of both the German people and more importantly; the allies of the Empire. After four years of war, people were growing tired of the bloody struggle, and disobedience was steadily mounting within Germany's allies who loathed to send their sons to die for the Reich. Strikes, acts of disobedience, and even sabotage were increasingly commonplace and had grown to virtually epidemic proportions in the client states of the east, where partisan warfare was being waged more and more openly every day.
The initial Russian invasion sparked an even further intensification of these acts of resistance as for the first time, it seemed like Germany was weak. Leftist dissidents were now being joined by right wing Pan-Slavists and Nationalists who hoped that National Republican Russia would liberate them from the German yoke that demanded more and more for a distant war. The Russian Great White Army had prepared itself quite well, and timed the cutting of valuable exports to Germany's coffers at just the right moment before launching Operation Varangian.
To the south, Egypt and its Cairo Pact allies had spent years making preparations in secret with the International and the Russian State to modernize, industrialize, and exploit the available resources of the region, which were offered without restriction, in return for the assistance of the anti-German blocs. The Ottoman Turks, Germany’s chief client state in the region - and an absolutely vital source of oil for the Reich - were seen as the great oppressor of the Arab people, and the Germans their great enablers. Thus the Cairo Pact was only too glad to strike at both, assailing the hopelessly outnumbered Suez Garrison and striking into the Ottoman Empire in tandem with Russia’s Caucasian offensive.
The Great White Army crashed into the eastern territories of the Reichspakt, and threatened to cause catastrophe as overwhelmed divisions tried their best to pull back to prepared defensive lines. The loss of the Suez Canal was also catastrophic, all but cutting off Germany from its colonial resources; almost overnight, Germany found its lifeline to Ottoman, Persian, and Azeri oil under threat. Germany would now have to learn to rely almost entirely on its strategic reserve, and what could be synthesized, and thus was now running on a timer.
By the Summer of 1945, the Netherlands, Belgium, Alsace-Lorraine, and a portion of the Rhineland had been captured by International forces that were now flush with American and Arabian oil, and awash with American trucks and artillery, while Germany’s allies in the east were felled one by one by Savinkov and his allies. Despite the massive militarization of the state under Reichskanzler von Schleicher and the tens of thousands being executed by Ferdinand’s discipline squads every month to enforce Prussian courage, Germany was already in a downward spiral. The strategic reserve of oil had run out and production could never hope to meet demand, the Siegfried line was breaking in the face of Operation Enchante, as fortifications were obliterated by precision bombing and ample self-propelled artillery. Socialist and Rightist partisans began to rise up in areas where military control was weak enough to be thrown off. Poland fell to Savinkov and his Polish Nationalist allies in early 1946, following the defeat of the Warsaw Commune, while French forces, bolstered by German partisans joining their ranks, pushed ever eastwards. Hungary's attacks on the former Habsburg Empire, and the efforts of Serbia and Romania served to make the formation of any coherent defensive line in the east fruitless, and Manstein advised High Command of the impossibility of victory. The Ottoman Empire was already dead and all the efforts of Germany to save it had come to nothing. Already, the colonies were crumbling as the Indochinese cast off their masters, all remnants of the Pro-German order in China were destroyed, and Goring’s attempts to hold the African Jewel together by brute force that would claim millions of lives instead shredded the pride and joy of the German empire to pieces, with only the longest established and most heavily Germanized colonies destined to remain loyal in the collapse that was to come.
Fearful of the rapidly impending collapse of the German military and empire, with mutinies and surrenders increasingly commonplace, Kaiser Wilhelm III and his Chancellor began preparations to flee the country. Königsberg fell to the Russian onslaught shortly after the liberation of Poland, while Magdeburg was captured by French, British, and socialist German forces in early 1946. June of 1946 would essentially mark the end of German resistance as the Kaiser fled for Sweden under cover of night, putting on a disguise in order to board a neutral Swedish vessel and make good his escape to Sudwestafrika, where colonial general and administrator Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck had established a loyalist regime of soldiers and colonists in the aftermath of the implosion of Mittelafrika. Breslau and Prussia itself would fall to the rapidly advancing Slavic armies, while INFOR’s siege of Berlin would begin only a few weeks after. By August 15th, 1946, the German Empire was no more, with the fall of Berlin, and the capitulation of the scattered and disorganized German military to International and Russian forces, being the final end of the old regime. A weary and dispirited Manstein emerging from his bunker in Berlin would sign the final order of surrender in the sight of the victorious powers and give the address asking those who still fought for the Emperor to stand down. The war was over, and even to many Germans this was a tremendous relief after years of incalculable suffering inflicted in part by their own rulers.
As the International Workers’ Armed Forces made their offensives through Germany, they were supported by myriad German socialist partisans that established workers’ councils and made multiple distinct declarations of local socialist governments, which were quickly co-opted into INFOR’s Council for the Reconstruction of Germany. It was, however, ultimately the flight of the Kaiser to Sudwestafrika that allowed the International Reconstruction Mandate for Germany to be established, and the Council had to be formed into an approximate government. The freedom-fighting partisans and resisting parties were an excellent source of administrative officials, but the real base of socialist rule in Germany ultimately came down to the collaboration of the two largest political parties in the former German Empire: the Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands and the newly established Spartakische Arbeiterspartei Deutschlands.
However, this situation was to be short-lived, as the Russians had formed their own German state on the border, and INFOR desperately needed a sovereign counterbalance. Guided by the diplomatic efforts of the French, the United Front of the SAPD and SPD formed the establishment of the new government of the new German Socialist Republic with its new President Otto Grotewohl as a compromise candidate, himself a member of the leftist faction of the SPD.
With its government barely four years old, the German Socialist Republic enters 1950 headed a young and unestablished coalition of former enemies. The SPD, when it held the position of Chancellor of the German Empire, suppressed the actions of now SAPD members and violently attacked DOI-affiliated strikers, only to be suppressed itself under the brutal military regime in the Kaiserreich, but now, to better the position of the socialist revolution in Germany, the SAPD must cooperate with them. Will the alliance stand firm, or will it falter? What will Germany's place be within INFOR, as its mighty industries and teeming population recover and begin to eclipse France's once more? What shape will the rearming German military take as the German Red Army coalesces into an organized sword and shield for socialism? And surely, the fate of the ships of the Kaiser’s navy that did not flee to what remained of the colonies must be discussed? And what of the reeking remnants of the old reactionary order in the country… not to mention the gaunt ghoul that stares back at the GSR’s forces stationed across from Dresden and the Oder - the German People’s State.

Austin Aries (c) defeats Kid Kash to retain the X Division Championship
Austin Aries embarks on the same length title reign he did in real life, and is still holding the belt heading into Slammiversary. With this being the 10th anniversary of TNA, we need some special surprise people for the show. After the video package showing how we got here, Hulk Hogan comes out to open the show with a promo. Austin Aries interrupts and demands to know who the mystery man to face him is. It’s the returning Kid Kash reveals Hogan, who comes out fired up and ready to go. He moves like he’s still in ECW in his 20s, but ultimately succumbs to a Brainbuster from Aries, who keeps his title and is getting closer to the 300 day mark.
Hernandez defeats Samoa Joe (c) to win the TNA Television Championship
Samoa Joe wins the vacant title off early in the year and holds it to this point. He has a dominant run as around this time he started to act like he actually cared a bit more. Hernandez wants to win his first bit of singles gold in TNA, and does so. The encounter is exciting with both guys being high flying big men, and a Muscle Buster countered into a Border Toss.
Tara defeats Gail Kim (c) and Miss Tesmacher to win the Knockouts Championship
Miss Tessmacher is taken under the wing of Tara, telling her to use her wrestling ability instead of looks to get ahead in TNA. They win the Knockouts Tag Team Championships and manage to make it a Three-way Match for Slammiversary, against the champion Gail Kim who is currently in the midst of the longest Knockouts Championship reign of all time. Tara wins after a Widow’s Peak from the middle rope, becoming a duel champion. Despite the loss, Tessmacher celebrates with her. Since she’s no longer working for Bischoff, she ditches the “Miss” and becomes Brooke Tessmacher.
Mr. Anderson defeats RVD in a Full Metal Mayhem Match
After the Three-way match for the #1 Contenders between Hardy, Anderson and RVD went into The Charismatic Engima’s favour, Anderson is at RVD’s throat about costing him the match. This leads to him demanding another match, but he doesn’t receive such. So he takes his anger out on RVD, but RVS prepares for his attack by coming prepared with a steel chair. Next week though he’s surprise attacked with a chain. The week after is the final attack, where RVD hits a Superplex off the side a ladder through a table. Hogan then comes out and announces their match will be Full Metal Mayhem. RVD takes himself out after missing a Five Star Frogsplash through a table, allowing Anderson to pin him to win.
Bobby Roode defeats Sting with Hulk Hogan as special guest referee
Both these guys have changed a lot since last year. Sting would reform Fortune under Christopher Daniels, A.J. Styles, James Storm and Kazarian at Bound for Glory to defeat Immortal in the main event. Afterwards he would become the GM of Impact, as he said he was done with wrestling. But 6 months later, he met Bobby Roode, and soon enough he quit his position to face him at Victory Road. He would lose after inadvertently hurting himself, meanwhile Hulk Hogan would take the GM role, once again a babyface. After this loss Sting starts to go crazy, and his Joker Sting gimmick is born. Hogan is worried for his safety and if he’s in a good enough state to wrestle, but Sting convinces him through his unorthodox promos.
Bobby Roode meanwhile would get his world title push heading into Bound for Glory, where he would lose to Kurt Angle in a big surprise. In an even bigger surprise though, his Beer Money partner James Storm would defeat Angle the next week. This is one of the biggest feel good moments in TNA history, with everything right in the company. Immortal are gone, Sting is in charge, and James Storm has won the gold. But 8 days later at Turning Point, Bobby a Roode would smash Storm with a beer bottle to win the title off of him. This creates the two new top main eventers within two weeks.
Roode would hold the title until Lockdown; defeating guys like Sting, A.J. Styles, Jeff Hardy and Bully Ray, but would lose it back to James Storm in a Steel Cage Match. Roode would then resume his feud with Sting, which begun after Roode defeated him at Victory Road. The match was non-title though, and Sting wants a TNA World Heavyweight Championship match. He’s granted it by Hulk Hogan. Roode would attack Sting during the match though, and get into a fight with James Storm causing a no contest. It would restart though, with James Storm hitting Roode’s Northern Lariat to win. The week after, Sting would defeat Roode in a Lumberjack Match, showing his training did pay off. Roode isn’t happy, and challenges him to a match for Slammiversary. This was one of the highlights of the card, so everything including the post match stuff stays the same.
A.J. Styles and Kurt Angle defeat Bad Influence (c) to win the TNA World Tag Team Championships
Styles and Bad Influence have been at each other for months now, with Kazarian and Daniels constantly mentioning a secret of AJ’s they will expose.AJ refuses to believe they have any secret of his, and gets Kurt Angle on board to help him take the guys down. Bad Influence attacks Kurt with a chain on Impact, meaning he goes into the match with busted ribs. They then tell A.J. that at Slammiversary they will reveal to the entire world what Styles has been doing, but Styles still believes they know nothing about him. His primary concern is still if Kurt can go for the match.
They have the same match as they did in real life, a high impact affair between arguably the four best workers in the company. Styles and Angle win the tag titles off of Bad Influence, and then he takes to the mic. “Kurt, I’m so glad that you helped me win these titles. But, those injured ribs of yours - were my idea.” He then kicks him in the midsection and hits him with a Styles Clash. He then picks up both titles...and hands them over to Kaz and Daniels. A new power trio is in TNA, and Styles for the first time in 8 years - has turned to the dark side.
Joseph Park defeats Bully Ray (with Devon) in a Monster’s Ball Match
The storyline and segments stay the same, with Abyss leaving after Ray destroys him at the end of 2011. He wouldn’t be seen then, but instead Joseph Park would - Abyss’ lawyer brother here to convict Bully Ray. The only part is, Joseph Paris IS Abyss - he was beaten too badly by Ray and became schizophrenic. Park doesn’t know how to wrestle though, and has to go to OVW to train. He gives up though, and instead decides the match will be a Monster’s Ball. He will try and replicate his brothers magic and use the Monster’s Ball preparation to become as violent as possible.
The 24 hours in a cage with no food, water or sunlight changes Park - as this once again makes him Abyss. He enters out as Abyss despite with being advertised as Joseph Park wrestling. He would dominate as Abyss, taking apart Bully. Devon would then flash a mirror in Park’s face, and he turns back into Joseph. This allows Bully to get the upper hand. He then takes out some thumbtacks, and this then turns Park into Abyss. They start to go to town, but the mirror works once again to make him Joseph Park. Bully would then bust him open, and he once again becomes Abyss. Devon tries the mirror again, but it doesn’t work as he still sees the blood. He would then win as Abyss, tearing off his suit and putting his mask back on. Abyss has returned.
James Storm (c) defeats Jeff Hardy to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship
James Storm wins the title off of Bobby Roode at Lockdown in their third match in the trilogy: Roode winning the first match after turning heel, a draw at Genesis in a Last Man Standing Match, and then Storm winning at Lockdown. Storm would then embark on a proper reign with the gold. After defeating Sting at Sacrifice, Jeff Hardy would come out on Impact for a promo. After winning the Three-way Match against Anderson and RVD, he comes out for a promo. He says that after last year, he has been an embarrassment for himself. What he did at Victory Road has changed him forever, and he will never truly recover. He lost his title, his rocket push as the leader of Immortal, his job, the trust of his friends, the trust of his family.
All he was left with was to take more pills, have another drink, smoke another, inject another, snort another, whatever. But he threw it all away. With nothing left, he needed a bit of magic to create something. And that was the hand of new GM Sting, the only man left who would give him a chance. He’s stayed on the clean and narrow since. He won’t turn on anyone or fall down again, this was his rebuilding time. Now the project is ready to finish. So 15 months later, he is competing for the title again. This will be his everything, it will be the biggest match of his life. So James Storm better hold onto his title for dear life, because there is no chance in hell he is keeping it.
Storm and Hardy have a contract signing where they both talk about those they’ve been betrayed by, those they betrayed, their self destructions, their rebuilding, and it all leads to here. Both with everything to fight for. Storm after exactly 10 years in TNA, showing up on the very first show and now being in the main event 10 years to date - now holding the world title after every hurdle. Jeff Hardy, having the most famous crumbling and fall from grace in TNA history, scratching and clawing his way to the top once again, now being back on top. Neither can lose, only victory. They wrestle like this is their mindset too. No moves keep the other down, every fibre of fighting spirit they have keeps them alive. It takes Storm a Last Call Superkick, followed by another, followed by one in the ring post to put Hardy down. Bloodied and battered, Hardy lays down.
Is this end?
Or; is it just the beginning?

2020.09.26 06:39 FionaLooong How hyper-casual games are winning the mobile market

A new genre of games, dubbed hyper casual games because of their super simple gameplay, has taken the mobile game industry by storm. Games of this category are dominating charts, successfully beating other, more complicated games.
The success of these game formats is evident in the numbers. The highest number of mobile game downloads last year was bagged by a Paris based startup called Voodoo. You’ve probably already heard about them, especially if you’re a mobile gaming enthusiast. They’re the company behind highly addictive games like Helix Jump, Aquapark.io and Paper.io. Founded in 2013, the company has to date amassed more than 3.7 billion downloads by more than 1 billion players — no mean feat, considering how saturated the mobile gaming industry already is.
Make no mistake though, hyper casual games aren’t just a fad that will fade over time. These games are here to stay — a fact made all the more evident by Zynga’s $168 million acquisition of Istanbul based Rollic Games, a fast-growing, hyper casual mobile game company whose games have garnered more than 250 million downloads.
The key behind the success of hyper casual games lies not in their quality, but rather their quantity — the sheer volume with which these games are pumped out onto the market every week. Rather than having their games undergo the costly and lengthy processes of testing, improving and refining, companies build these games cheaply, assigning only two or three people to each app. Since such games don’t use complex graphics or gameplay, they’re ready within a couple of weeks.
Speaking on the short and quick creation process of these hyper casual games, industry specialist Stephane Kurgan, the former chief operating officer at Candy Crush makers King, said, “They have done to Candy Crush what Candy Crush did to traditional PC games.” He further added, “The barrier to entry is very low, and it’s highly capital-efficient.” This, combined with the saturation of the market, makes the competition in the mobile gaming industry massively fierce.
Paul Murphy, a partner at venture firm Northzone and the CEO of mobile games company Dots, told Tim Bradshaw, Global Tech Correspondent at the Financial Times in a recent article, “The cost of building games is dropping and therefore people can put out games really quickly and cheaply.
He further added, “Because you can get something out there for little to no effort, in hyper casual, there is a lot of crap, and a lot of clones, and a lot of clones of crap.
One important thing to note here is that developers do not create these games with the hopes that users will still be playing them in the years to come. No, gamers are bound to get tired of such games and uninstall them once the initial charm and novelty of the concept wears off — and developers do realize that. That’s why they don’t exhaust all their resources, trying to maximize the quality of one game. Instead, they aim to put out one title after another in order to achieve profits through download volumes.

Ads characteristics

I analyzed a number of casual game ads using SocialPeta, I have summarized the following common hyper casual games ad characteristics that were observed in nearly all of them:
  1. True to the nature and format of these games, the ads used to market hyper casual games are also highly simple and straightforward — yet effective. They reflect the simplicity and ease of the game itself.
  2. The best way to market and attract players is by giving them a glimpse of what these games have to offer, and successful hyper casual game ads do just that — — by using a screen recording of the gameplay as a video creative.
  3. Instead of making use of elaborate and fancy visual tactics to help grab the viewer’s attention, the ad videos for hyper casual games directly show how the game is played. They highlight a quick gameplay video and very subtly (yet effectively) incorporate the best visuals and features of the game to capture the attention of the viewer.
  4. The advertisements for hyper casual games make it a point to show the players going through the game smoothly and almost effortlessly, thus making the ad audience think that the game is easy to play and would make them feel satisfied. This inspires the user to download the games.
I hope that this article has helped you in understanding the fact that why hyper casual games are getting popular day by day. If you’ve any queries, please don’t hesitate to ask in the comments section.

2020.09.25 14:05 TessaBissolli Deconstructing the mythology episodes. Part 7 Belgrade.

In this series, we will examine the mythology episodes, in light of what we can believe or not, what we find confirmation of, and what is demolished by applying a bit of critical thinking.
Just as I did on the previous series, in this one I will try to analyze the apparent narrative of the mythology episodes to see where it falls apart and where is holds true. There has been many posts about each one of them. What I will attempt here is to reconstruct the past by looking at all of them together.
When we get to the mythology episodes, it is extremely important to keep in mind the concept of point of view. What does a character know, and when did they learn it. The easiest way to confuse the audience is to play with the POV.
I discovered that Belgrade could not have been before July of 1995 because that is when Vukov Station was opened.
7 July 1995: Underground railway station "Vukov spomenik" opened. Similar to the RER of Paris, this is to become the first station of Belgrade Metro.
that flashbacks about Belgrade are important because they show us that the idea that in 1991, Dom got to the US and was hiding in the woods since meeting Katarina at the post office, and that this happened in 1991/92 (to account for the year of surgeries, is not accurate.
A few months after I made it to America, Katarina met me here on that sidewalk. She handed me a key to box 642.... She gave the key to her mother, too. She told us that, when she resurfaced, she would make contact with us.
I got this 28 years ago. And in 28 years, there was not a week that has passed that I haven't tried to use it. I'd say a silent prayer first hoping, praying to find something from her.
Last time I saw my daughter was in this rearview mirror nearly 30 years ago. If my Katarina was still here, she would have let me know.
We know that Dom was not checking the box for Katarina, or not only for Katarina, because once Lena died, he never did. So, either

But Dom blames Red for three things, which might be connected, or partially connected.
What really created the problem for Katarina was working with the cabal. So that charade somehow may have landed Katarina in the path of Alan Fitch. If we consider the clues that Katarina may have been a CIA agent, infiltrating the KGB, and Dom and Ilya, who are both described as ghost, seem to have been playing a charade pretending to be KGB, then this seem to be the charade. A giant counterintelligence operation gone bad. And Dom blames Red for the charade.
If Red is who designed the charade of the plane that could not fly, and Sutton Ross grabbed the bait with both hands, and if the USS Gideon was anther charade to catch a traitor, as we explored in the previous post, could Red have designed a complicated charade that took advantage of something? Sounds like him.
So, could the failed ruse be the colossal mess, as we explored in the previous post? I think so. And this could have been a decision made for Katarina. Like creating a fake death for her, and having it backfire. And it seems that before this mess, Dom and everyone else were not supposed to have been out of their lives. At least not permanently.
So, whatever the plan to disappear, it seems to have contemplated a temporary plan to stay hidden, and then some sort of exit for Katarina. is Red's failed ruse with Ilya, that resulted in a colossal mess, and that may have been make a choice for Katarina how and/or when to proceed to the next plan, and this made it necessary for Dom to step away from Katarina and Liz. That is when Dom contacts Ilya, and he tries to provide a dead Katarina for the enemies, and that backfires too.
Ilya went along with Dom's plan, even though he was in tears about it, because he had made a promise to Katarina, and his plan with Red had resulted in an even bigger mess.
To me it fits. Red had designed a charade. But is Red's ruse with Ilya, which might be related to the bones and a fake death for Katarina, a decision Red made for Katarina, that resulted in a colossal mess, in the formation of the Townsend Directive, that made Dom attempt a desperate measure in Belgrade that resulted in an even more spectacular mess. After this fails Dom and Ilya discuss what to do:
DOM: It's a mess! The world was supposed to see Katarina Rostova die, and instead all we've done is confirm that she's very much alive.... And instead of protecting my granddaughter, we've put a target on her back.
but they also discuss telling Red (the Reddington of that time):
ILYA: I should tell him.
DOM: We're not telling him anything.
ILYA: Oh. I know how you feel, but Reddington deserves to know what we've done.
And in 1995 Red steps into the criminal spotlight by making sure the FBI is after him, supposedly in possession of the fulcrum, and protected by Alan Fitch who convinces the rest of them Red has a death switch which Alan knows quite well is a lie.
This only serves one purpose which is not related to "Katarina Rostova" at all, and is to keep "Naomi" in WITSEC.
The FBI can trace this Reddington forward from '95.
Using the name Raymond Reddington to do so does not protect Liz at all, for there is no knowledge of a link between Reddington and Liz, safely hidden with Sam. Red could have become a criminal protecting Liz under any other name and any other face and would have made no difference.
In theory Reddington and Rostova should be enemies. But if Townsend is the man in some of the arguments remembered by Liz, then Townsend knew Rostova and Reddington were playing house.
Red then proceeds to hire Kate circa 1997, the last link to where Liz was hidden.

Dom was not retired, hidden in the woods, a recluse since 1991.

It was credible for Fakerina that there was a package she needed to take to Dom in Vukov Station, which meant that Dom was still in the game.
It was credible to the Russians that Dom leaked that his daughter, known traitor "Katarina Rostova" was to be at that hotel with sensitive information.
ILYA: He leaked that his daughter, that you, were staying at the inn and that you carried sensitive intel. This might be the last chance to catch the infamous Russian traitor Katarina Rostova.
Of course it was not his daughter, but it was a doppelgänger, Fakerina, who had been of help for Dom in the past to keep Katarina safe.
FAKERINA: Dom promised me no one would get hurt. Said he loved his child and just wanted her to be safe.
So, whatever Dom was, and whatever he was doing, he was not in a isolated cabin in the woods in upstate NY. Dom leaked that HIS DAUGHTER would be there with intel of interest. Dom was in Belgrade meeting with Dom, still looking like himself, just like Ilya. No dark glasses, no hair dye. Just a different haircut, but then 4 to 6 years later it makes sense.
https://preview.redd.it/luh01gzc5ap51.png?width=576&format=png&auto=webp&s=a5b843560513c94757cf3a29b1d175e5309e78dc

Ilya was not retired, hiding as Frank Bloom

Ilya did not want to be seen WITH Dom in public, but he was not hiding either. They were not meeting in an isolated road on the countryside, they were meeting in a cafe: "In a cafe in Belgrade."
ILYA: We can't be meeting like this. It's too dangerous. Even now.
and Ilya could still call Fakerina who was out of the game and retired by then and ask her to serve as courier between Dom and Ilya
FAKERINA: I couldn't let you down.... I insisted it was my last job. An old friend had asked me for a favor. A desperate friend, someone who I trusted, someone I could never turn down.

Ilya and Dom were in a car not far from the KGB who wanted to catch or kill "Katarina Rostova". But not Ilya or Dom apparently.

They were ALL there. Dom and Ilya, the KGB. If Dom had been wanted, if he was hiding he would NOT have been there, in a car with Ilya, who is also supposedly wanted, another traitor, and the KGB, all watching this.
That's right. You weren't alone. The others. They were all there. Even Dom was there.
But there was a car bomb. Supposed to kill Fakerina, and present the world with a dead Katarina Rostova. The KGB were going to kill her, but then a hotel guest came screaming out:
ILYA: The KGB were going to kill you right then and there. But then everything went wrong.

Ilya speaks of being angry about her taking a "new" husband. Which means there was an "old" husband:

ILYA: I hadn't known you'd taken a new husband. Not that I was angry to find out, certainly not as angry as he seemed to be, charging out of that room.
and he says it to Dom as well.
Dom was still in the field, because Ilya thinks Dom should have known about the husband.
Ilya seems to be mortified about his not knowing about the husband, which means Ilya was not stationed near Fakerina, or Ilya was not supposed to know about KGB agents anymore. it seems that "Ilya Koslov" might have been retired in 1991 as the British dossier seems to indicate:
ILYA: How could I have not known - about her husband? - I've never even heard of him. And now he's dead and she's alive.
https://preview.redd.it/a2rfazb76ap51.png?width=735&format=png&auto=webp&s=a82a5c731f73f07d4e31420b9f29f847faadc549
Ilya thinks Dom would have known about that husband, not himself, which means that Ilya was not stationed where Fakerina was living and Dom was still in a position to know what was going on with Fakerina.
It seems to me that by Belgrade, so mid 1995 to 1997, Ilya has abandoned the Koslov identity and is doing another kind of job, while Dom was still out in the field.

Who was the previous husband, that Ilya could have been angry?

Fakerina describes Ilya as a friend, and calls him love:
A desperate friend
but Ilya says: "I hadn't known you'd taken a new husband. Not that I was angry to find out"
https://preview.redd.it/ril4d3wx4ap51.png?width=576&format=png&auto=webp&s=f02e42d83e9e4edfffc1a31c48408f40e15a47df
So we have two options:
A. Ilya was her previous "husband"
Or Ilya and Fakerina pretended to be married. They had a bond of some sort. Her desperation about why would Ilya not help her, why would he prefer to die than to help her seemed genuine. Fakerina does not know still then that Ilya is not "Ilya Koslov" and that there is a relationship between Ilya and Red:
FAKERINA: How could you do this? How could you possibly be willing to die in order to protect him?! After all we've been through, Ilya.
ILYA: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Why won't you help me? Why?
But she describes Ilya as a friend, someone she trusted. Not a romantic partner.
B. Ilya was a friend of her previous "husband".
that friend might well be Red, because Fakerina certainly seemed to have had a relation ship of sorts to Red:
FAKERINA: I don't want this.... I never planned on killing him.
and later:
THE ILLUSIONIST: He means a great deal to you.
FAKERINA: He did. Once.
as she tells to Liz:
LIZ: So why did you help?
FAKERINA: Because he's important to you and because he was once important to me. I don't want him to die.
this relationship was hidden from Fakerina, who believed Ilya was really named Koslov and was KGB.
That is consistent. Fakerina was prepared to kill him if needed, but she did not want to. He said to the illusionist he was important to her once.

Fakerina's old life had cost her something dear:

FAKERINA: I had to bring him in. Pyotr was so suspicious. He knew what my old life had cost me.
could that have been a child?
I miss having children.
https://preview.redd.it/nou39u2d6ap51.png?width=768&format=png&auto=webp&s=fca1b42f3ab4abd8ee209e967bed5a370529bcad
Her name?
I can't show my face, use my name.
Which name is that? Katarina Rostova? Or is there another name she cannot use either? Carla?
We know that she still looks like she did in 1991,and the people involved in the TD know she is NOT the one to take, as we saw because Motya's guys did not kill her on sight, but instead took Skip Sutherland to find out what information was he selling to her:
MOTYA: This one was with Rostova. Sold her information, but he wouldn't tell me what.
And Fakerina, as u/jen5225 has remarked multiple times, calls Liz Elizabeth to Red, but Masha to Dom and Ilya, and knew that Liz is the daughter of "Katarina Rostova" and Raymond Reddington.

Conclusions

So, it would seem that Fakerina had been in a romantic relationship with Reddington, and may have been married to him once, if he was the prior "husband" Ilya was upset about.
Fakerina does not know about the friendship between Ilya and Red, but she considered Ilya an old, desperate friend. A KGB agent, and thinks Koslov is his real last name.
It seems to me that Fakerina may have been the woman who first used the name "Carla" and had a child with Raymond Reddington, targeted him.
She could be the "Katarina Rostova" that was ordered to seduce and betray him:
35 years ago, a Naval intelligence officer working for the US government fell fell into a relationship with a beautiful Russian woman.
Unbeknownst to his superiors, that relationship, which started as guarded attraction, quickly evolved into passion, which resulted in pregnancy.
They had the child. A girl, whom they both loved.
What the Naval officer didn't know, but certainly should have suspected, was that the Russian woman was a KGB officer, that Katarina Rostova had been assigned to get close to Raymond Reddington and steal classified information from him
is it possible that this Fakerina is the one in the picture of the swing? Liz's biological mother?
The girl is you. And the woman is your mother.
What was her name?
Mmmh I knew her as Katarina Rostova. One of her many names. She was a KGB agent.
https://preview.redd.it/frdk0ebm7ap51.png?width=576&format=png&auto=webp&s=2b861ee52fd497aea004ee76eb7e1d4f1802a25b
and that the reason there were two pictures of Liz and her mother in the Summer Palace was to keep Liz's biological mother and her adoptive mother next to her?
Red does NOT know what her real name is:
She doesn't have a name. She's a ghost. Think of a name, any name, and that could be it.
If RR was targeted by a sleeper agent assigned to seduce him and steal classified information from him, and Reddington designed a charade to use that by creating fake KGB agents, like "Ilya Koslov", to recruit her maybe to a super secret unit, then slip in a doppelgänger with the same name and who looked very similar, Katarina, then Katarina slipped into BOTH her identities, and took over her daughter, Liz.
Somehow a fake death WAS done for her:
Nobody knows you're alive.
Maybe that body that became the skeleton was also supposed to be her fake death, or maybe once Katarina took over, her fake death would have solve all the problems.
Could Red had been targeted by one woman, Fakerina, had had a child with her, who was born in Russia under another name, as the child of Fakerina under her real name, unknown to Red, and then Red took Liz, or stole Liz, and he bargained with her the child for her life, while a CIA agent stepped into both her identities, at different times, one via marrying Constantin Rostov?
And when she needed to hide, she took over the other's identity?
Dom and Ilya
Dom may have abandoned the identity under which he was "Oleander" and gone hiding in the woods after Belgrade failed?
After I lost my daughter I crawled, crawled into the wilderness like a mortally wounded animal to get as far away from the pack as I could, to to run out the clock. Run out the clock and die.
https://preview.redd.it/zdjfbx045ap51.png?width=576&format=png&auto=webp&s=9ddb8892473ca801944ec9fe3f4d4c5af1232342
While Ilya seemed to have been somewhere different, perhaps having abandoned the identity "Ilya Koslov, KGB agent" but very much still in the field, not hiding in Washington DC, under the name Frank Bloom.

2020.09.24 20:08 NamNguyen56 FULL WRITING SPEECH OF PRESIDENT TRUMP AT UN

FULL WRITING SPEECH OF PRESIDENT TRUMP AT UN

![img](choano3sy4p51 " Yesterday, when he heard President Trump speak at the United Nations Congress (online organization), the part he bluntly denounced China, looking at the state of the Chinese representative was very worrying (although he wore face mask). President Trump's speech was very assertive, eloquent, straightforward, powerful, causing many opponents to shiver, but it is difficult to challenge, because what he said is a true reflection of the current state of the country. America and the contemporary world.📷📷 Perhaps, only those who are jealous, jealous of this president, can find some vague traces only. —- FULL WRITTEN SPEECH OF THE PRESIDENT TRUMP AT UN (Translated from FB Tanhia Nguyen) I am honored to speak to the United Nations General Assembly. 75 years after World War II ended and the United Nations was formed, we are once again engaged in a great global struggle. We waged a fierce war against the invisible enemy - the Chinese virus - that took the lives of countless people in 188 countries. In the United States, we launched the most drastic movement since World War II. We quickly created a record-breaking supply of ventilators, creating a surplus allowing us to share them with friends and partners around the globe. We pioneered life-saving treatments, reducing mortality by 85% since April. Thanks to our efforts, the three vaccines are in the final stages of clinical trials. We are mass-producing them in advance so they can be delivered on arrival. We will deliver vaccines, we will beat the virus, we will end the pandemic, and we will enter a new era of unprecedented prosperity, cooperation and peace. As we pursue this bright future, we have a responsibility to speak up to the country that caused this plague to the world: China! In the early days of the virus, China banned domestic travel while allowing flights to leave China and infect the world. China condemned my travel ban against their home country, even if it canceled domestic flights and locked citizens in their homes. The Chinese government and the World Health Organization - which is largely controlled by China - have falsely claimed that there is no evidence of human-to-human transmission. Then, they erroneously say that asymptomatic people are not contagious. The United Nations must hold China accountable for its actions. In addition, China releases millions of millions of tons of plastic and garbage every year into the oceans, overfishing the waters of other countries, destroying vast coral reefs and releasing a high amount of toxic mercury into the atmosphere. more harmful than any other country in the world. China's carbon emissions are almost double that of the United States and are growing rapidly. By contrast, after I pulled out of the one-sided Paris Climate Agreement, last year, the United States reduced its carbon footprint more than any other country in the agreement. Those who attack America's special environmental record while ignoring China's widespread pollution are ignorant of the environment. They just want to punish America, and I won't support that. If the United Nations is an effective organization, it must focus on the real world problems. This includes terrorism, persecution of women, forced labor, drug trafficking, human and sexual trafficking, religious persecution and ethnic cleansing of religious minorities. America will always lead the way in terms of human rights. My administration is promoting religious freedom, opportunities for women, eradication of homosexuality, combating human trafficking and protecting unborn children. We also know that American prosperity is the cornerstone of freedom and security around the world. In three short years, we've built the greatest economy in history, and we're quickly redoing it. Our army has grown dramatically in size. We have spent 2.5 trillion dollars over the past four years on our military. We have the most powerful military anywhere in the world. We have resisted China's commercial abuse for decades. We have revived the NATO Alliance, where other countries are now sharing more equitably than before. We have forged historic partnerships with Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador to stop human trafficking. We are side by side with the Cuban, Nicaragua and Venezuelan people in their just fight for freedom. We withdrew from Iran's Terrible Nuclear Deal and imposed crippling sanctions on the world's top terrorist sponsor. We have removed 100% of the ISIS caliphate; murder of its founder and leader, al-Baghdadi; and destroy the world's leading terrorist, Qasem Soleimani. This month we reached a peace agreement between Serbia and Kosovo. We reached a landmark breakthrough with two peace agreements in the Middle East, after decades of no progress. Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain all signed a historic peace agreement at the White House, along with many other Middle Eastern countries coming up. They come very quickly and they know it's great for them and that's great for the world too! These groundbreaking peace arrangements were the dawn of the new Middle East. By taking a different approach, we achieved different results - far superior results. We have taken an approach and this has worked. We intend to make more peace deals soon, and I have never been more optimistic about the future of the region as of now. As we said, the United States is also working to end the war in Afghanistan, and we are sending our troops home. America is fulfilling our mission as a peacemaker, but it is peace through strength. Now we are stronger than ever. Our weapon is at the most advanced level we've never had before - frankly we hadn't even thought of having it before. And I just pray to God that we never have to use them. For decades, the same weary voices have been proposing the same failed solutions, pursuing global ambitions at the cost of the people of their own country. But only when you are interested in your citizens do you find a real basis for cooperation. As President, I have rejected the failed approaches of the past and I am proud to put America first, just as you should put your countries first. That's okay - that's what you should do! I strongly believe that next year, face-to-face, will be one of the greatest years in world history! Thank you. God bless you all. God bless America. And God bless the United Nations! ")

2020.09.24 09:23 FionaLooong How hyper casual games are winning the mobile market

1) True to the nature and format of these games, the ads used to market hyper casual games are also highly simple and straightforward — yet effective. They reflect the simplicity and ease of the game itself.
2) The best way to market and attract players is by giving them a glimpse of what these games have to offer, and successful hyper casual game ads do just that — — by using a screen recording of the gameplay as a video creative.
3) Instead of making use of elaborate and fancy visual tactics to help grab the viewer’s attention, the ad videos for hyper casual games directly show how the game is played. They highlight a quick gameplay video and very subtly (yet effectively) incorporate the best visuals and features of the game to capture the attention of the viewer.
