2020.05.27 09:19 suldags Kentaro Sakaguchi Master List

Hello there!
Here is a comprehensive Master List containing all of Kentaro Sakaguchi’s acting work in dramas, live action films, animated films, and stage plays. I have compiled these in hopes of gathering other international fans of Japanese cinema on this platform. The goal is for more people learn of Sakaguchi’s talent and join us in supporting his career.
Additionally, I have compiled CMs*, official interviews and some fun facts about Sakaguchi. Personal information will be limited to his birthday, blood type, and other generic facts. If you have anything to correct or add to this information, feel free to comment on this post! However, I urge people not to relay anything that may intrude on Sakaguchi’s privacy, like addresses, contact information, or anything too intrusive about his family. Let’s have fun while respecting personal boundaries. Thank you.
You may use this post as a guide to learning all about Kentaro Sakaguchi and his work. 😊
To follow:
\The way I understand it, CMs (Commercial Messages in Japan mean the same thing as CFs (Commercial Films in Korea. They both refer to promotional videos/short movies made as advertisements. CM = Japanese term; CF = Korean term.)* According to this user, "CM" means the music in "CFs" in Korea, but for this instance I will be using the term CM to denote ADVERTISEMENTS since it is the official term used on Kentaro's Talent Agency Profile.

Official English titles are not the same as actual titles aka the direct translations from Japanese. I didn’t include those to avoid more confusion (e.g. for “My Little Sister” the actual title is “Seaside Diary”). However some of these have more than 1 accepted English title (see: “Color Me True”).
Titles will be listed from most to least recent. In the ABOUT column, links lead to EACH WORK’S corresponding page on the Official Website (OFFICIAL), AsianWiki (AW), MyDramaList (MDR), and/or IMDb. These links offer comprehensive descriptions, cast lists, ratings and reviews on each drama and film. They're a good place to start if you are interested in delving into the career and works of Kentaro Sakaguchi.
Here are my sources for his filmography. I cross-referenced every site to come up with the most accurate and updated list.

2019.07.09 19:38 volgalonso [Trip Report - Photos and Links] Tokyo-Kyoto-Nagoya-Kanazawa during Golden Week (April 29th-May 19th)

Hello /JapanTravel,
I went to Japan during Golden Week for three weeks and thought I'd share my experiences and recommendations with you. You can find a detailed outline of my trip with pictures and useful links. If you have any extra questions about this trip and other relevant things do not hesitate to shoot a comment or message.
Goal of this Trip
This was my (M/25) first trip to Japan as a tourist. Before this I spent six years living and studying (undergrad + master’s) in Japan between 2011 and 2017. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Ottawa, Canada. My goal for this trip was to visit my SO, meet with her dad for the first time and then relax a little before starting a boot camp for my PhD qualification exams that will take place during early August (yet here I am procrastinating).
Basic Information
Most of these are explained by many people in this sub including the FAQ section. But since this trip was during the long Golden week, it may actually be useful for people who are planning to go next year around the same time period.
Summary of the Trip
April 29th, Monday
I arrived to Haneda Airport around 16:30. Flight was surprisingly empty. I was sitting at the aisle side of the 4-seat corridor lane (Boeing 777-300 – not sure) and two seats in the middle were empty. So I got that Business level leg space throughout the flight! Air Canada is pretty average in terms of service, food was pretty bad but I enjoyed the entertainment system. They had an interesting selection of movies and TV shows. Passport and customs at Haneda was a breeze. As long as you have a return ticket, some sort of accommodation reservation or an invitation from a friend with a valid passport (and visa for some) entry does not take too much time. I picked up my SIM card from the airport convenience store and bought airport limousine tickets. Since I was staying around Koiwa taking the Airport Limousine there seemed like a better option than the train. Transportation from airport really depends on where you are staying so I would suggest to check your route options in advance to avoid confusion. Once we arrived home I took a shower and passed out.
April 30th, Tuesday (Sengaku-ji, Ginza)
Slept in a little in the morning. Me and SO left the house around noon to visit Sengaku-ji at Shinagawa. Reason behind this visit was to learn a bit more about the Ako incident, see the graveyard of 47 Ronin and to buy the special goshuin notebook. SO began collecting goshuin lately and I thought it would be nice to join her which turned out to be an awesome idea. I know some people are interested in collecting goshuin stamps in this sub and thought it might be interesting to make couple remarks about the whole process. It is important to remember that collecting goshuin is not a stamp rally. However, with the recent fad it is somehow evolving towards that direction. The right way to do this is to complete the prayer ritual before obtaining the stamp. This includes bowing at the torii gate (entrance and exit) and the prayer. Some temples/shrines don’t do handwritten stamps anymore. Instead they give out a piece of paper that you can stick inside your notebook. Stamp prices range from 300 to 500 Yen. If you do your research you may be able to receive special stamps on specific days of certain months (depends on shrine/temple). My approach to collecting stamps were based on the historical or general significance of the shrine/temple to Japanese politics and history. However, I also went to some local ones just because they were close to where I was.
After our visit to Sengaku-ji we head to Ginza in the afternoon. Here we first went to Itoya Ginza to check some cool stationery. I also got my fountain pen cleaned while I was there. Then we went to a junkissa (retro style cafe) called Ginza Miyuki-kan to have some coffee and rest. I had some cappuccino and croque monsieur. If you can tolerate cigarette smell then this is a nice place to take a small break in Ginza area. Finally we headed to Star Jewelry to order the pair ring set that we were thinking of getting.
May 1st, Wednesday (Kyoto – Nanzen-ji, Heian Jingu, Honno-ji)
We had a reservation for 7AM Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Kyoto Station. Although we woke up super early we barely made it to the train since we were late to leave the house. Try to give yourself twenty to thirty minutes for bullet trains if you are arriving to Tokyo Station from a different JR line as it may become cumbersome to navigate from JR lines to Shinkansen platforms (e.g. Sobu Express Line). Once we settled down in our seats we had a quick breakfast with food we grabbed from supermarket a night before. In most supermarkets you can find fresh bakery which are always cheaper and better in taste than the pre-packaged convenience store ones.
May 1st was also the first day of the Reiwa era which meant that Kyoto was jam packed. First thing we did was to buy one-day bus pass to navigate around the city. I know buses are the most convenient way to navigate around the city but with the Golden Week tourist crowd walking didn’t sound too bad on some occasions. We started our trip at Nanzen-ji. Hojo gardens inside the temple were so beautiful and relaxing. Entrance to gardens cost extra 300 Yen but it is definitely worth it especially if you are into photography. After this we slowly headed to Heian Jingu. We were lucky to stumble upon a wedding. It was also the first day of Reiwa period which meant a really long wait line for the goshuin stamp. I think it took us around 45-60 minutes to get that stamp but the wedding ceremony was a decent distraction during our wait. In major shrines like Ise Jingu and Meiji Jingu wait time for the first goshuin stamps of the new era reached close to ten hours at its peak. It reminded me the first day of the Toy Story ride in Tokyo Disney Sea (wait time was like 12 hours or something crazy like that)! After finishing our visit at Heian Jingu we headed to our hotel for a small break.
We stayed at Resol Hotel Kawaramachi Sanjo for our only night in Kyoto. I think on average you can find a room here for 80-150 USD depending on size and availability. However prices were really high up there for golden week so one night costed us around 250 USD. Rooms have a modern Japanese feeling to it with tatami flooring and Western furniture. Hotel itself is located right at the shopping district of Kyoto and provide easy access to major sights. It is also really close by to where key political figures like Sakamoto Ryoma and Goto Shojiro come together to discuss politics and reform back in the days. Hotel has a mini museum inside it and the area is filled with memorials dedicated to these figures. If you ever studied Meiji Restoration closely it is a fascinating place to be at.
After our break at the hotel we went to Honno-ji. This is the temple where daimyo Oda Nobunaga was forced to commit suicide by Akechi Mitsuhide. It has a really cool museum near the temple with artefacts left from the Honno-ji Incident. Definitely worth spending some time if you are a history nerd like me. Honno-ji is located right inside a shopping street so we went to a second hand bookstore that sold mostly history books and a Japanese stationary store. After killing some time we went to Chifaja on Kawaramachi to have all you can eat yakiniku and we finished of the day there. Meat here was great and it really hit the spot after an exhausting day of travelling and walking. We ordered the “Excellent Course” for 3800 JPY per person since it had my favorites: beef tongue and special harami cut.
May 2nd, Wednesday (Kyoto – Kifune Jinja, Kawadoko, Shimogamo Jinja + Nagoya)
We had an early and light breakfast at the hotel. I opted for Japanese style breakfast with some fish, miso soup and rice with natto and raw egg (I think it is at least worth a try for anyone who is open to trying new tastes). Our first stop was Kifune Jinja. We had to take a small train to reach there with a billion other people. After making it to the station you also need to take a shuttle bus or walk uphill for couple kilometers to reach the temple area. However if you have a reservation at one of those Kawadoko restaurants you can use their private shuttle service without lining up. We had a reservation at Kibunesou to eat sukiyaki thus we had the luxury to ask for their shuttle bus. Kawadoko restaurants start their season on May 1st and continue until September. What they offer is a unique dining experience on a platform build above the riverbed. The whole dining experience costed around 16000 JPY. Food was really good as well as the environment. It wasn’t anything special though (still delicious) so you are definitely paying for the concept. Service was also a bit sub-par for what you are paying for. Their kaiseki meals must be more special but be prepared to pay up if that is what you pick.
After lunch we briefly visited Kifune Jinja to grab our goshuin and made our way back to Kyoto City. For the afternoon we decided to visit Shimogamo Jinja and I was glad that we did this. It was a day before Aoi Matsuri so they were holding practice rounds for Yabusame (mounted archery) which was really cool to watch from close by. Seeing those large horses storm through the sand right in front of you is a terrifying yet exciting experience. Whole shrine complex is one of many World Heritage Sites located in Japan and deserves a visit if you like shrines/temples. I really liked the atmosphere and the street with posh houses that leads to it. After this we returned back to hotel, picked our stuff and headed to Kyoto Station to take a bullet train to Nagoya. SO wanted to grab some sweets for her family from the station kiosk. She got some ajari mochi which is a Kyoto wagashi made with rice flour pastry and tsubuan fillings. Meanwhile, I found this restaurant that also sell spices and grabbed a yuzu spice mix that I am looking forward to use in my cooking. After a 50 minutes long Shinkansen ride in a Hikari train (with five minutes delay :O) we arrived to Nagoya Station around 8:30 PM. We headed to SO’s family house where I met with her father for the first time. Everyone was nervous but after the initial introductions we sat down to drink beers together which led to a really nice night. We had some sashimi, Japanese ham and cheese with our beers. We discussed our plans to go to Ise on May 4th but given that it was Golden Week and first days of Reiwa (and nine hours long wait for goshuin stamps) we gave up on the idea. Instead SO’s mom offered a day trip to Kanazawa which we all agreed to do.
May 3rd, Friday (Nagoya-Sakae)
Had a late start to the day around 9 AM with a small breakfast. I had buri ochazuke which was a pleasant light meal for my stomach after a long night of drinking! Besides being the home town of my girlfriend, Nagoya always has a special place in my heart as I spent a huge chunk of my six years in this city attending university. Going back there felt very nostalgic. It would be great to have an extra 2-3 more days here to enjoy it more but I still managed to get the best of it with the limited time available. We basically headed to Sakae area around noon. My SO’s sister drove us there which was quite convenient. Eventually we decided to have a chill day where we did some shopping together.
There are tons of malls and department stores as well as individual stores around the Sakae area. In fact majority of Nagoya’s entertainment is cramped between Shinsakae to Nagoya Station. So we pretty much did some window shopping and some actual shopping. American Eagle had a very good sale for Golden Week period. Mid-afternoon we stopped by at Suzume Odori for some warabi mochi. We wondered around La Chic and Takashimaya and headed to Loft and Junkudo Bookstore. We grabbed a guide book on Kanazawa to make a plan for our trip. At night both SO and I had separate plans. She met with her friend and I went to have some tebasaki with a friend of mine from university. We ate at Sekai no Yamachan which is my absolute favorite place for Nagoya style chicken wings. Yamachan has chains all around Japan. I remember seeing one in Kyoto Kawaramachi and Tokyo Jimbo-cho so if you ever have a chance and want to taste some Nagoya dishes I would very much recommend Yamachan. They also serve this beer called Ginga Kogen in select stores which is a Japanese craft wiezen from Iwate that pairs great with tebasaki. After dinner I met with my SO at the subway station and we went back home. SO, her mom, her sister and I ended up planning the trip to Kanazawa and then head to bed.
Nagoya is actually a cool place in my opinion with some interesting sights and experiences to offer to tourists. Definitely not the most favorited city by tourists but if you are heading to Japan for a second or third (or more) time it may be worth adding to your list. It is especially a great hub if you are interested spending some time in Tokai region due to its location and extensive train networks. I actually want to prepare an extensive Nagoya guide for this subreddit based on my experiences but maybe in the future.
May 4th, Saturday (Kanazawa – Omicho Market, Kenrokuen, Kanazawa Jinja, Ishiura Jinja, Seisonkaku)
We left the house around 8AM in the morning with my SO’s dad’s car. Kanazawa is three hours away from Nagoya so we arrived there a bit before noon which was perfect for lunch time. Finding a parking space was really hard though since the place was already crowded by people. Our first stop was Omicho Market. They have variety of stalls that sell seafood and bunch of other street food. While we were wondering around the market SO and I discovered a stall that sells fruit beer so I had to try it. I got the blood orange/grapefruit one and I think SO grabbed the peach one. There are also multiple restaurants on the second floor where you can taste seafood bowls. I had a sashimi bowl with twelve different fish which was delicious. We also ordered a grilled nodoguro to share. Nodoguro is a naturally fatty and juicy fish which is a Kanazawa delicacy. Heavy but a delicious fish to taste. On our way out we grabbed some pickled saba and nodoguro sushi for dinner from one of the stalls downstairs. You can definitely try other stuff ranging from amaebi korokke, shell fish, etc.
Our second stop was Kenroku-en near Kanazawa Castle. We had to make a choice between the castle and the garden. Since the weather was nice we opted for Kenroku-en. Walking around, having some Japanese tea and sweets in one of the shops and enjoying the beautiful sights was a lot of fun. If you like taking pictures definitely do not forget to bring your camera. Such an aesthetic place for nice Japanese garden shots and it looks gorgeous in every season. We then head to Ishiura and Kanazawa shrines to collect goshuin stamps. Kanazawa shrine adds a small piece of gold on their stamps which looks really pretty. Seisonkaku was an interesting Japanese style villa built in Edo period which is also directly connected to Kenroku-en so make sure not to miss it if you are in Kenroku-en.
Ladies wanted to check this cosmetics store called Makanai Cosmetics which originates from Kanazawa. Their main store is in very close proximity to Kenroku-en and apparently has some Kanazawa specific products. Unfortunately they were closed for the golden week but if there are anyone here interested in beauty products make sure to check it out. They have stores all across Japan but the main store is the most special one. Store is located at a random street among regular house which makes it even more interesting. Kanazawa in general has a very historical vibe to it so walking around various streets may lead to interesting discoveries. I guess it would not be too radical to compare it to Kyoto with less tourists. After this we were pretty much exhausted so we went to Kanazawa Station for some souvenirs and hit the road for Nagoya. Traffic on the way back was pretty bad so the return trip took around four hours.
May 5th, Sunday (Nagoya + Tokyo – rest day)
SO and I left Nagoya at 11 AM. We had a shinkansen reserved for that time. Coincidentally SO’s sister’s friend from university was at the seat next to us so we had a small chat with her. Once we were in Tokyo around afternoon we quickly made our way to Koiwa. Both of us were exhausted from all the travelling so we decided to rest for the afternoon. Only went out for groceries at night. If you are planning to stay in Japan more than two weeks I think it is a good idea to take some time off from moving. This does not mean locking yourself up to your room. Slowly exploring the area you are staying or yearning to see without rushing anywhere specific can be therapeutic.
May 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th Monday-Thursday (Tokyo – Shinjuku, Hibiya, Sick Days)
Had a slow start to Monday. This was my girlfriend’s last day off before work and I had a plan to meet another university friend so we made separate plans for noon. I had beef cutlet at Gyuukatsu Aona with my friend at Shinjuku. Great dish if you are yearning for some juicy rare beef. After this meeting, I met up with SO to grab some coffee in Shinjuku and to do some window shopping. We then went back home late afternoon to do some cooking and relaxing.
Spent all of Tuesday in bed because I was ill so nothing interesting to report.
On Wednesday morning I went to Hibiya area to take a stroll around Imperial Palace and to check the National Diet from outside. You can take a tour of the diet but I have done that before. Instead around lunch time I went to Imperial Hotel Office Towers to meet yet another friend of mine from university. I had a hamburg steak lunch at a nearby restaurant. It is always great to hang out with old friends and continue like no time had passed since we last met. After lunch we took a stroll around Hibiya Park until my friend had to leave for work again. Since Tokyo station was not too far away I decided to walk over there to hit up Maruzen bookstore. I think I spent more than two hours in here just going through novels, academic books and magazines. There were so many cool books that I wanted but did not have the luggage space nor the money to afford it all. However, I did get a Japanese grammar dictionary that I was looking for to improve my writing and advance my grammar skills. I went back to Koiwa around 18:00 where I met with my SO who came back from work. Went to the local Daiso to grab towels for the hedgehog since she likes sleeping inside them.
Thursday was yet another day where I fell ill again. Two days that I missed this week ruined some of my plans so I was not happy.
May 10th, Friday (Tokyo National Museum)
I arrived to National Museum around 11:00 and spent a good 5-6 hours inside the museum complex. If you are history nerd you will love this place and I highly recommend it to people that actually wants to learn more about Japanese history and culture. Also, each season they change parts of permanent exhibition. So if it is summer time they display clothes, utensils, etc. that were used in summer season back in the days. Thought that was a neat idea. Museum complex is very huge with multiple other buildings. I would suggest anyone visiting here to spare a morning or a whole afternoon because there is just too many things to see! I know there are lots of people here who are interested in Japanese swords and artisanship so definitely make sure to see exhibitions related to that as every detail is explained. After museum I went back to Koiwa Station.
May 11th, Saturday (Kamakura + Yokohama Chinatown)
Left Koiwa for Kamakura around 10 in the morning. It was only a 90 minutes long train ride from Koiwa to Kamakura with one transfer at Shin-Koiwa. It was around lunch time when we arrived there so we decided to hit up Rans Kamakura on Komachi-dori for lunch. This is an Italian restaurant that uses Kamakura grown vegetables in their dishes. Dishes change each season based on the availability of vegetables. Everything was fresh and delicious and if you are looking to have a light lunch I would highly recommend this place!
After lunch we decided head to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu which is one of the most important Shinto shrines in Kamakura area. It was built in 11th century during the Kamakura period. Shrine complex is absolutely gorgeous and has a really cool tiny museum inside it with historical artefacts from Kamakura period. After spending some time exploring the complex we went to grab our goshuin stamps. You can get two different stamps from this complex: one from the main shrine and the other one from Hataage Benzai Tensha. On the way back we passed through Komachi-dori again for some gelato and then headed to Kamakura station to ride Enoshima Dentetsu Line to Hase station.
Our goal at Hase was to see Hase-dera. There was a massive statue of Kannon made from wood inside. It was amazing yet terrifying to see something like that up close. There is a legend about how the statue came to be and how it was moved to the temple. There is also a cave that was interesting walk through. If you are claustrophobic I would not recommend seeing the caves but it was a nice place to cool down. Only downside of this temple is that you have to pay an entrance fee of 500 JPY just to get to the temple grounds. If you want to visit the museum that is extra. Initially we were also planning to see Kotoku-in too but we were tired after walking a lot throughout the day so we decided to head to our hotel located in Yokohama Chinatown. We stayed at Rose Hotel since we find a great discount. Room was really spacious, clean and comfortable. Check this website called “ikkyu” for decent discounts for higher end restaurants and hotels. After resting for an hour we went out to grab some pork buns from Chinatown for dinner and then took a stroll towards the seaside to end the night.
May 12th, Sunday (Yokohama Chinatown + Jimbo-cho)
We left the hotel around 11 AM to find a place to eat in Chinatown. There are so many all you can eat buffet options in Chinatown that we probably spent around 45 minutes looking at menus and trying to figure out which place has the food we want to have. I honestly don’t have any idea where we ate because I was too hungry to pay attention and menus were very similar but it was delicious. I had some chicken rice porridge, dim sum, some crunchy Chinese vegetable, kani tamago and many more. Average price on weekends is around 2000 JPY per person but you definitely get your money’s worth. After lunch we grabbed some coffee at a nearby café and started to plan what to do in afternoon. We decided to hit Jimbo-cho to check out the bookstores.
Jimbo-cho is also known as the Book Town and houses many bookstores at various sizes. Most of them specialize in certain genres while the rest have more general collections. You can also find back issues of manga, magazines as well as many other stuff. I was looking for some ukiyoe prints to decorate my house. There were some really old and expensive ones but I managed to find some never reprints that were super budget friendly. My SO grabbed a collection of Grimm Stories in Japanese language. I think we easily spent three to four hours in here looking at different bookstores that we were interested in. We finished the day at Sanseido Bookstore which is the largest bookstore in the area.
May 13th, Monday (Shinjuku, Harajuku, Meiji Jingu, Karasumori Shrine)
I started the day by heading to Shinjuku to visit Selection Shop. If you are looking for any kind of Japanese Baseball, MLB, NFL and NBA merchandise of any team definitely hit this place. There are some collectors stuff if you dig around a little. One that caught my eye was a game worn glove by Ichiro. My purpose was to grab a Chunichi Dragons jersey since I could not go to a game due to scheduling conflicts. I got myself a Mizuno edition Kyoda Fan Jersey. Shout out to the friendly staff at the store too. We had a fun chat about Kawhi’s buzzer beater against Sixers. They take photos of their customers to thank them for coming. So overall if you looking for your baseball merchandise in Tokyo this is the store to go.
After killing some time in Shinjuku I went to Harajuku to grab a goshuin stamp from Meiji Jingu. It is one of my favorite places to be in metropolitan Tokyo. The silence that looms once you enter from the tori gates is always impressive. Goshuin here was 500 JPY. After this I spent some time wondering around Harajuku. I did some extensive window shopping for chopsticks and sneakers – nothing was bought! I jumped to Shinbashi area to meet with my girlfriend but she had to do some overtime work. So I first hit the Karasumori Shrine for their colorful goshuin stamp. Shrine itself is also hidden between lots of izakaya and tall buildings. Might be an interesting visit if you are in the area. Then I went to this British style pub to grab some happy hour beer while waiting for my SO. On the way back home we stopped at our favorite ramen shop near Koiwa Station that specializes in thick tonkotsu base ramen. Store is called Bushido Ramen for those who are into strong flavors.
May 14th, Tuesday (Mitsukoshi-mae, Yasukuni Shrine, Yuushukan, Kudanshita, Jimbo-cho, Ochanozmizu)
I ran a quick errand in the morning before heading to Coredo Muromachi to meet with two of my university friends for lunch in between their work schedule. We went to Meikei Yakitori Yakisen to have their lunch special Torimabushihan. It is basically hitsumabushi but instead of eel you have grilled chicken. It was a decent filler for lunch before I hit Yasukuni Shrine. I first received the goshuin stamp and then decided to enter Yuushukan. This was my first time inside the shrine area so it was a roller coaster of an experience. I think the museum is a must see for any history or military history nerds out there but it is a sad place so keep that in mind. After spending around 2 hours in the shrine complex I walked to Jimbo-cho following Kudanshita to explore more of the bookstores. I didn’t make any purchases but I did some interesting findings in terms of comics and some archival stuff. Before finishing the night I decided to hit Menya Kokoro while walking towards JR Ochanomizu Station. I ordered a classic Taiwan Maze Soba and it hit the spot so well! If you don’t want to have the hot soup but want to enjoy thick ramen noodles this is a decent substitute.
May 15th, Wednesday (Fuku no Yu – Honkomagome, Tokyu Hands, Shinagawa)
My main goal today was to find a public bath in Tokyo. My SO mentioned to me that a group of artists worked in the renovation of some local public baths in metropolitan Tokyo. The one that had the best fitting hours for me was Fuku no Yu at Hon-komagome Station in Bunkyo ward. It is a tiny place with three different bath types but the painting was great and renewal seemed to change the place for the better. I hanged out and chatted with couple of ojisan and finished my bath with a coffee milk from Meiji. I would recommend this place if you are looking for something authentic to do in Tokyo.
After Hon-komagome I went to Tokyu Hands in Shinjuku to grab myself some stationery for my studies and some chopsticks for my place in Ottawa. I found a really decent set of chopsticks for around 1000 JPY so that was great. Stationery floor is a must if you are interested in those type of things. After this I went to Shimbashi to meet with my SO. We stumbled upon a terrible train congestion due to a failed suicide attempt on a key train line station. It is hard to describe the sheer amount of crowd inside and outside of train stations that were effected. We somehow managed to make our way to Shinagawa to spend some time before the trains returned back to their normal schedule and the extreme crowd dispersed. So we stop at Outback for a steak meal and blooming onion and head back home couple hours after.
May 16th, Thursday (Koiwa Shrine, Ningyo-cho, Suitengu, Tokyo Station)
When I was in Jimbo-cho for the second time I grabbed a novel by a Japanese author Hoshi Shinichi. I really enjoy his short-short style stories and they played an immense role in improving my Japanese skills over the years. So on Thursday I left the home in the morning to grab goshuin stamps from Koiwa Shrine. It is nowhere special but I spent a good chunk of my time in Japan around that neighborhood so it made sense to me to give a visit. After this I went to Ningyo-cho area to wait for my girlfriend finish work while reading the book that I got the other day. I also visited Suitengu Shrine in the area to grab their goshuin stamp. I probably sat down reading for couple hours and chowing down couple glasses of coffee. My SO shows up around 6:30 and we head to Tokyo Station to have a dinner with her university friend and her boyfriend. We had some decent Turkish food (they wanted non-Japanese cuisine and I am Turkish so it made sense lol) and great chat to finish off the day.
May 17th, Friday (Edogawa River, Harajuku, Aoyama)
My SO decided to take a day off from work since things were a bit slow so that we can spend an extra day together to celebrate our fifth anniversary. We caught up on sleep in the morning and then took our hedgehog Togepin to the riverside field for a small walk. However our main plan for the day was for afternoon and night. After the walk we changed and went to Harajuku to have tea time at Janat Café in Harajuku. They have a great variety of tea selection and some decent but small desserts. A great place to spend some quality time with a date. Around 7 PM we walked towards Aoyama to go to this Mediterranean restaurant called Cicada. If you are bored from Japanese food and looking to have a different dining experience I would definitely recommend this place. Their mezzes are on spot, lamb chomp was so tender and fish was perfectly cooked. Other appetizers and cheese/charcuterie plated are also very successful. If you have some cash to spend and looking for something not Japanese Cicada is a great selection. Atmosphere is another plus! You need a reservation in advance though.
May 18th, Saturday (Yotsuya, Shinjuku, Koiwa)
My SO was invited to her high school friend’s wedding at Hotel New Otani so I went to Shinjuku Gyoen to meet yet another university friend. We grabbed some convenience store snacks and had a small picnic. After the meeting I return back to a café in Yotsuya to read some more. We return back home and go out for grocery shopping to cook a fun meal for my last night at home.
May 19th, Sunday (Koiwa, Haneda International Airport)
Sad final day in Tokyo!

2018.06.25 14:28 rusticgorilla What we learned in the Russia probe: Week of June 17 - 23

Housekeeping:
On to the review...

Week of June 17 - 23: What We Learned in the Russia Probe

Mueller investigation

Roger Stone’s ‘frenemy’ Randy Credico told reporters that Mueller has reached out to him for a voluntary interview, but he doesn’t plan on talking unless he gets subpoenaed. Credico told the Daily Beast, “The last thing that I would like to be known as is a rat.” Credico is a person of interest because Stone told the House Intelligence Committee that Credico was a backchannel between him [Stone] and Assange. Credico denies facilitating any such communication.
Paul Wood, a BBC journalist, says an American lawyer told Wood that he was approached by a Cambridge Analytica employee after the election. The employee told the lawyer that the company had the Clinton emails more than a month before they were published by WikiLeaks. The employee then asked the lawyer what he should do, to which the lawyer replied he should take the information to Mueller.
Adam Waldman, a longtime US lobbyist for Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, visited Julian Assange nine times in 2017. It is not known what was discussed at the meetings. The dates of some of Waldman’s visits are interesting, specifically three visits that occurred directly before and after Trump’s inauguration.
McClatchy revealed more evidence suggesting Donald Trump was involved in, or assisted others in, money laundering. Buyers from Russia or former Soviet republics “made 86 all-cash sales — totaling nearly $109 million — at 10 Trump-branded properties in South Florida and New York City.”
Roger Stone has once again told the media that it's possible he'll be indicted. He added that Mueller's investigation has made it difficult for him to talk to Trump.
Rudy Giuliani revealed that earlier this year FBI agents questioned him about his “2016 remarks predicting a “surprise” in the closing days of the presidential race that would benefit then-Republican nominee Donald Trump.” There has been persistent worry about anti-Clinton forces in the New York FBI field office, which Giuliani has connections to from his time as former US attorney for SDNY. Unfortunately the recent IG report failed to investigate this aspect of the FBI’s role in the 2016 election.
Michael Cohen
Today, Monday, Stormy Daniels was scheduled to meet with prosecutors in SDNY’s investigation of Michael Cohen, but the attorney’s office canceled due to the meeting having been leaked, and fear the details of what occurs may likewise be leaked.
Michael Cohen resigned from the deputy finance chair of the RNC’s Finance Committee, citing Mueller’s probe as one reason but also criticizing Trump’s family separation policy.
Cohen hired a new lawyer, Guy Petrillo, on Tuesday. Petrillo spent two years in the Southern District of New York US Attorney's office, the same agency that is investigating Cohen. According to his website, Petrillo specializes in cases involving money laundering and fraud.
Tom Arnold tweeted a photo of himself and Michael Cohen “hanging out,” and later went on various TV shows to claim that the two are teaming up to take down Trump. Arnold again implied he has damaging tapes of Donald Trump. After this, however, Cohen took to Twitter to deny discussing anything related to Trump.
The South Korean aerospace company (KAI) that paid Cohen $150,000 for “accounting advice” failed to disclose that it was the subject of a corruption investigation, yet was awarded a $48 million contract from the U.S. military. Last year, the former CEO and eight other executives were indicted in Seoul on charges of bribery, embezzlement, and defrauding the South Korean government.

Other Russian Connections

A group of American senators will travel to Russia at the end of the month and celebrate Independence Day in Moscow. Reportedly the group includes Richard Shelby of Alabama, John Neely Kennedy of Louisiana and North Dakota’s John Hoeven.
John Bolton is traveling to Moscow and will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. His visit is expected to be prep for a meeting between Trump and Putin that will occur sometime in July. Two times of the month have been mentioned: either before July 11th or after July 13th.
Wilbur Ross failed to truly divest his holdings/interests in foreign companies, including Navigator, a shipping firm tied to Vladimir Putin’s inner circle, multiple companies co-owned by the Chinese government, and a Cypriot bank Mueller is investigating. When Ross found out the Paradise Papers (which included this news) was about to be published, he opened a short position against the Russian company, meaning he’d profit if the shares dropped. Predictably, the stock went down and Ross cashed out with a profit.
Rick Perry is going to host Russia’s energy minister, Alexander Novak, for a meeting in Washington DC this week. One has to wonder if Perry will bring up Russia’s attacks on our energy grid...

Congress/States

Obama’s ‘cybersecurity czar’ Michael Daniel testified before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Wednesday. The committee reached a bipartisan conclusion that the Obama administration did not do enough to stop the Russians from interfering in the 2016 election. Daniel had ordered his team to begin developing aggressive countermeasures to deter the Kremlin’s efforts in the early summer of 2016, but none were actually put into action. In August 2016 Daniel’s team was told to “stand down” because some officials did not want to be seen to be favoring Clinton in the election.
Also before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Daniel testified that Russian hackers likely scanned all 50 states for vulnerabilities in 2016, not just the 21 states previously confirmed as targets.
Dems on the House Intelligence Committee released the names of about 1,100 Russian Twitter accounts, many of which were active as recently as last month. Their tweets commented on Roseanne Barr’s firing and Don Jr.’s divorce, but not all were the MAGA accounts we are used to seeing from the Kremlin’s Internet Research Agency.
Sen. James Lankford, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, stated Wednesday that Russian bots are “using the current family separation and immigration debate to sow discord among Americans.”
State election officials say they haven’t received as much federal funding as they need to secure their election systems. Minnesota and Vermont asked lawmakers for more to upgrade equipment and cybersecurity. This year, 41 states are using voting systems that are at least a decade old.

Other

A 100 member delegation from Cyprus and Cypriot organizations paid to hold a conference at Trump's D.C. hotel to explicitly look “into ways of exerting influence on Trump,” one of which was surely bringing business to the hotel. Adding to the conflicts of interest, U.S. government officials “addressed paying guests from behind a Trump Hotels-branded lectern,” further blurring the line between Trump’s private companies and the presidency.
To note…
An organizer of last year’s Unite the Right white supremacist rally in Charlottesville has received initial approval to hold a rally across from the White House on August 12th, the anniversary of last year's event.
Taxpayers have paid $20 million for extra Coast Guard patrols to protect Trump during his trips to Mar-A-Lago, which have numbered 16 so far. Note: This data does not include the cost of Trump’s weeklong stay at his estate with Japanese PM Abe, which conceivably could have cost more than average. When taking other costs into account, the Government Accountability Office estimates each trip To Florida costs taxpayers $3 million overall.

2017.04.12 23:49 NightHowler253 Every Upcoming Marvel Cinematic Project Under Development.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the hottest pop culture phenomenon on the planet. Since 2008, the franchise has seen 14 films gross a massive $10.9 billion at the worldwide box office, to say nothing of the impressive success of Marvel’s television wing, which has launched hit shows like Daredevil and Agents of SHIELD.

The future is looking bright for the MCU, with nine upcoming films scheduled for release, from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, all the way through Spider-Man: Homecoming 2. Marvel also has three untitled films scheduled for 2020, which may include a Doctor Strange or Black Panther sequel, or an unexpected new franchise. Moon Knight or Squirrel Girl, anyone?

Marvel TV is also firing on all cylinders. Despite Iron Fist’s less-than-stellar critical reception, Danny Rand is still set to return for The Defenders, which will unite all of Marvel’s New York City-based Netflix heroes – from Daredevil to Luke Cage. The Punisher doesn’t play well with others, so he will get his very own series. That’s just scratching the surface of Marvel’s TV plans, which also extend to the Freeform channel and beyond.

It’s easy to lose track of what’s on the docket at Marvel Studios, so stay in the know with Screen Rant’s guide to Every MCU Project In Development, and check out similar stories on Fox’s X-Men universe and Warner Brothers’ DCEU.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

The next entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the sequel to 2014’s surprise hit, Guardians of the Galaxy. Vol 2, as it is called, will continue the adventures of Star-Lord and company, as they embark on a quest to… Do something. Marvel has been surprisingly tight-lipped with the actual details of the sci-fi sequel, relying instead on good-will from the first movie and the promise of more fun antics with the colorful cast of characters (especially Baby Groot!), in order to not spoil the myriad revelations the film surely has in store for viewers.

That being said, Marvel has revealed lots of information in trailers and interviews. One trailer revealed that Kurt Russell’s character, Ego the Living Planet, is actually the father of Star-Lord, a.k.a. Peter Quill (Chris Pratt). What role he will play in the story, however, is a mystery. Another big scoop, revealed by writedirector James Gunn, is that none other than Sylvester Stallone will be playing a “small, but pivotal” role in the film, but he stopped short of announcing the name of Stallone’s character.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will include pretty much the entire (surviving) cast of the original Guardians, along with previously-mentioned additions like Stallone and Russell, and new characters like Mantis (played by Pom Klementieff), Taserface (Chris Sullivan), and Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki).

The sequel will begin several months after the first movie, and is the first MCU film to be shot with the new Red Weapon 8K camera, which will widen the color palette of the MCU. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes out on May 5, so MCU fanatics won’t have to wait long to see what’s in store for Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Yondu, and the rest of the crew.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Following Guardians Vol. 2 in May, July will see one of the most high-profile franchise reboots ever with Spider-Man: Homecoming. The original Sam Raimi Spider-Man films are among the most beloved superhero movies ever made (OK, maybe not the third one), and when the franchise was first rebooted in 2012, audience reaction was ambivalent, and the critical drubbing of 2014’s Amazing Spider-Man 2 was enough to kill the franchise.

Last year, a re-rebooted Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, popped up in Captain America: Civil War, and the world fell in love with the friendly-neighborhood web-head all over again. Now, Spider-Man is back in a solo film, set within the playground of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car, Clown), Spider-Man: Homecoming will see Peter struggling with the responsibilities of being a masked crime-fighter and a high school student. Spidey will be mentored by none other than Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and coming into conflict with The Vulture (Michael Keaton), who is described as a dark foil to Iron Man. The film will also feature The Tinkerer and Shocker; it’s expected that Tinkerer will be an associate of The Vulture, while Shocker might be the muscle, or he may be an additional, incidental villain for Spidey to fight.

Despite being set in New York City and taking on less of a “world-ending” tone compared to the larger Avengers films, Homecoming is not expected to feature cameos from the heroes of Marvel’s Netflix series, like Jessica Jones or Daredevil. However, Homecoming is already confirmed to have a Captain America cameo, so maybe there will be some other surprises in store when the reboot/spin-off hits theaters on July 7.

THE DEFENDERS

After conquering the silver screen and enjoying success on ABC, the Marvel Cinematic Universe made the jump to Netflix. The streaming giant hosted MCU versions of street-level heroes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and the recently-released Iron Fist. Like The Avengers before them, these New York-based heroes will come together to fight a threat to the city in a Netflix miniseries event.

The Defenders is currently scheduled to be released on August 18th 2017. In addition to the main heroes of the four Netflix shows, the miniseries will feature much of their supporting casts, including Carrie-Ann Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Scott Glenn as Stick, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.

While it is yet unknown exactly what will unite The Defenders to protect New York, the villain of the series will be played by Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Ghostbusters). Her character is called “Alexandra,” though whether she is an original creation or an adaptation of a comic book figure is unclear, and the truth will likely not be revealed until the series hits Netflix this summer.

INHUMANS

The Mutant-esque members of the Inhuman race have been part of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD since its second season, and it was originally expected that they would transition to the big screen in an Inhumans film, which had been dated for 2020. However, that film was eventually taken off the schedule, and the future of beloved characters like Black Bolt and Maximus was in doubt.

In November 2016, it was revealed that Inhumans was not dead, but would instead find life as a television series, produced by Marvel Studios with IMAX as a partner. The first two episodes are shot entirely with IMAX cameras and will debut in IMAX theaters across the country before premiering on ABC. Inhumans will be an eight-episode miniseries, and Scott Buck (Iron Fist) will serve as showrunner.

Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels) will star as Black Bolt, an Inhuman who is functionally mute, as the sound of his voice is powerful enough to generate shockwaves which can devastate landscapes and destroy cities. Meanwhile, Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) will play Maximus, the Loki to Black Bolt’s Thor. Ken Leung, Serinda Swan, Isabelle Cornish, and Ellen Woglom round out the cast of the sci-fi fantasy series.

Inhumans will debut in IMAX theaters on September 1, 2017, before airing on ABC starting on September 26.

THOR: RAGNAROK

Asgard’s God of Thunder is returning for another adventure, and he’s bringing a friend: The Incredible Hulk. This outer-space set entry in the MCU is taking Thor out of the safety zone of Asgard and into more Guardians of the Galaxy-inspired territory, anchored by a dazzling aesthetic which reads as a cross between 1980s sci-fi and Masters of the Universe.

Director Taika Waititi cut his teeth on unusual comedies which brought laughs and tenderness in equal measure, even in the unlikeliest of scenarios. To see Waititi’s potential to deliver a blockbuster like no other, see the hilarious and surprisingly heartfelt vampire mockumentary, What We Do in the Shadows. Waititi also directed the adorable Team Thor shorts which gave Asgard’s greatest champion a roommate… In New Zealand.

Ragnarok will see Thor stripped of his hammer, Mjolnir, and exiled to planet Sakaar, where he must fight in gladiatorial combat against The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) in order to escape in time to stop the destruction of Asgard. Tessa Thompson (Creed) and Karl Urban (Star Trek, Dredd) are co-starring as Asgardian warriors. While Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is set to appear in the Marvel threequel, the main villain of the piece is Cate Blanchett as Hela, the goddess of death and the underworld, who escapes from imprisonment with a thirst for vengeance against Asgard. Finally, Jeff Goldblum will appear as the Grandmaster, the hedonistic ruler of Sakaar and host of the gladiator games.

Thor: Ragnarok homes to build off of Guardians of the Galaxy’s visual language while rebuilding the identity of its title character. Will it succeed? Audiences can judge for themselves when the film releases on November 3, 2017.

THE PUNISHER

Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher is not expected to make any appearances in The Defenders, but fans of the character won’t have to wait long to see who he’s gunning for next, since The Punisher is becoming a Netflix original series, under the leadership of showrunner Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal).

Jon Bernthal earned critical praise for his take on New York City’s most violent vigilante in Daredevil season 2, and now he’s getting his own show where he can dispense his brutal brand of justice as the leading man. The new series will pick up where his character left off in Daredevil, on his way towards becoming a full-time vigilante. He’s not looking to save the city, or his soul; he’s looking to kill criminals, the scum of the Earth who deserve nothing more than a bullet to the head.

Deborah Ann Woll will reprise her role as Karen Page from Daredevil, though the extent of her role in The Punisher is unclear. Like his Daredevil episodes, Marvel’s Punisher show will likely take inspiration from the greater Marvel universe, as well as the Garth Ennis-penned MAX series. Paul Schulze (24, Rambo) will play duplicitous CIA agent Rawlins, an Ennis-created character, while Jason R. Moore has been cast as Curtis Hoyle and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will co-star as Castle’s analyst sidekick Microchip, two characters who go back to the 1980s comics.

One of the biggest casting coups was the announcement of Ben Barnes (Westworld) as Billy Russo, AKA Jigsaw. It’s unknown if he will be Jigsaw from the start, or if he will actually undergo his horrific transformation into the mutilated mobster within the show’s debut season.

BLACK PANTHER

To state the obvious: it’s about time.

Black Panther is the first black-led superhero film in modern times, and it’s hard to believe that it’s taken this long for one of Marvel’s most popular characters to finally get his due. But at least it’s actually happening, and Marvel has assembled an incredible team to bring the world of Wakanda to life. The film is being directed by Ryan Coogler, one of the hottest directors on the scene right now. After breaking out on the scene with Fruitvale Station, Coogler shot straight to the A-list with 2015’s Creed, a franchise revival which stood on its own two feet while simultaneously honoring what had come before.

The film will star Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa of Wakanda, better known as Black Panther, sworn protector of his people. The actor is reprising his role from Captain America: Civil War, and is also expected to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, as well as the inevitable Black Panther sequels. Ryan Coogler’s frequent collaborator, Michael B. Jordan, will be co-starring as Erik Killmonger; exiled from Wakanda years ago, he returns to challenge T’Challa for control of their home. The rest of the cast includes Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave), Forest Whitaker (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), and Angela Bassett (Chi-Raq), who is playing T’Challa’s mother.

Returning MCU figures include Martin Freeman as Everett Ross (from Civil War) and Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue (from Avengers: Age of Ultron). Interestingly, despite his character’s death in Civil War, John Kani is returning as T’Chaka, suggesting that Black Panther will feature flashbacks to earlier points in T’Challa’s life.

Black Panther currently has a release date of February 16, 2018.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Originally announced as Infinity War – Part 1, the third Avengers movie is still being shot back-to-back with its sequel, though the two films are not a two-part story. Avengers 4 remains untitled, and the “Part 1” subtitle has been dropped from Avengers 3. Both films are directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the team behind The Winter Soldier and Civil War.

Infinity War will feature the largest cast of any Marvel film yet, even dwarfing the gargantuan lineup of Captain America: Civil War. Pretty much all of that film’s characters are expected to appear, as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, Hulk, and, of course, Thanos. Kevin Feige has suggested that Thanos is the true main character of Infinity War, that the film will follow his quest for power while The Avengers are still reeling from the events of Civil War.

In terms of massive blockbuster motion picture events, Infinity War is almost guaranteed to be the biggest film of 2018; nothing can top it, except maybe its own sequel, but we’ll get to Avengers 4 in just a bit. For more on Infinity War, read up on Screen Rant’s comprehensive collection of every update on the super-sized superhero movie.

Avengers: Infinity War will release on May 4, 2018.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP

The Wasp Prime in Ant Man Every Marvel Cinematic Universe Project Currently In Development

In 2015, Ant-Man came out just two months after Avengers: Age of Ultron, but still managed to eke out an impressive $519 million worldwide, despite its highly-publicized behind-the-scenes troubles and lesser-known superhero protagonist. Praise was heaped upon the movie’s visual style, punchy comedy, and the acting of Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, and Michael Douglas as the three leads.

The post-Avengers window worked wonders for the first Ant-Man, so the sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, will be released in a comparable frame, two months after Avengers: Infinity War, right in the middle of the Summer blockbuster season. Ant-Man director Peyton Reed entered the original film fairly late in the development process, so the sequel is his chance to develop an Ant-Man story from the ground up, to truly put his stamp on the character.

After being teased in the post-credits scene of the first movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp, as indicated by its title, will feature Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lily) suiting up as the Wasp, a superhero with the same shrinking power as her male counterpart, but also the awesome addition of flight… Like a wasp. Michael Douglas and Michael Peña will also reprise their roles in the sequel, which will find Scott Lang as a fugitive on the run after the events of Captain America: Civil War. So much for getting to spend time with his daughter, right?

Ant-Man and the Wasp is due to release on July 6, 2018.

CLOAK & DAGGER

While Marvel television has so far been exclusive to ABC and Netflix, that is about to change with Cloak & Dagger, which will air on the Freeform network, formerly known as ABC Family. The series will be set within the MCU, and it will follow the two titular teenagers as they discover their powers while maneuvering through their blossoming romance.

Cloak can create portals to the darkforce dimension and draw upon its power. He will be played by Aubrey Joseph (The Night Of). Meanwhile, Dagger, played by Olivia Holt (Disney XD’s Kickin’ It), has the ability to generate psionically-charged knives which she can use to literally drain the life force from her enemies. Andrea Roth, James Saito, and Gloria Reuben also star in the “Romeo & Juliet with superpowers” action/adventure/teen romance series.

Cloak & Dagger is currently expected to debut on Freeform in 2018.

CAPTAIN MARVEL

Like how T’Challa made his debut in Captain America: Civil War before starring in his own upcoming solo film, Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel, will debut in Avengers: Infinity War before headlining her own adventure in 2019. Brie Larson has already been cast as Marvel’s other Captain, though the production of Infinity War is so tightly guarded that no images of Larson on set, let alone in costume, have been revealed. It’s possible that Carol Danvers will not be a superhero at all when she first appears in Infinity War, and that she’ll get superpowers at some point during that film, perhaps becoming something of a modern-day version of Captain America.

Meg LeFauve (Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy, the upcoming Detective Pikachu) are the current screenwriters assigned to the Captain Marvel project, though no director or additional casting has been announced yet. It might be a little while yet before Marvel fanatics get any more juicy tidbits on the film, which currently has a far-off release date of March 8, 2019.

AVENGERS 4

The MCU may never end, not as long as fans keep on paying good money to keep Marvel Studios afloat, but things will be different after Avengers 4. It’s the final film in Marvel’s Phase 3, and is being touted as the culmination of everything they’ve been building towards since the first Iron Man way back in 2008.

Avengers 4 is just a working title, of course; the film was originally known as Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2, but it was changed by virtue of the fact that the two films aren’t direct sequels, according to Marvel Studios. The films are being shot back-to-back, however, and the budget of the two upcoming Avengers titles is rumored to be as insanely high as one billion dollars, which would make them probably the most expensive cinematic productions of all time.

Presumably, Avengers 4 will be the site of the final showdown between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Thanos the Mad Titan. But will it be the end of fan-favorite characters like Iron Man and Captain America? It’s too early to guess, and Marvel certainly isn’t telling. Audiences will just have to wait until May 3, 2019 to see how it all ends… And how it all begins; two months later, Peter Parker will swing back onto the scene with the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING SEQUEL

The fact that Spider-Man is appearing in the MCU is the result of down-to-the-wire negotiations between Sony and Marvel. Sony had been planning to use 2014’s Amazing Spider-Man as a springboard into additional sequels, as well as movies following the Sinister Six, Venom. However, after ASM2‘s relative under-performance ($708 million worldwide, while Sony was expecting at least one billion), the looming cost of a Spider-Man cinematic universe just wasn’t looking to be worth the effort; eventually, Sony struck a deal with Marvel, leading to Spidey’s appearance in Civil War and the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. Tom Holland’s take on the masked webslinger will also appear in Avengers: Infinity War, but what’s in store for the character after that?

A sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 5, 2019, in the shadow of Avengers 4, but plot details are being kept under wraps, if they even yet exist at this early stage of pre-development. However, the early buzz is that the films will follow the Harry Potter formula, tracking Peter Parker as he progresses through his high school career.

One wrinkle in that plan is the possibility that Sony reclaims Spider-Man and doesn’t allow him back into the MCU; the Sony/Marvel deal expires with Homecoming 2, and it may have to be renegotiated to ensure a steady flow of MCU-set sequels; after all, Sony’s planned Venom spin-off is not currently expected to be part of the MCU, so what will happen if the script for that film calls for an appearance from the friendly-neighborhood Spider-Man?. Will Sony create its own version of Spider-Man to co-exist alongside the MCU’s version? This developing story has potential to get really confusing before it ends.

DAMAGE CONTROL

The wildcard on Marvel’s television radar is Damage Control. Originally announced in 2015 as a comedy series with a blue-collar perspective on the super-powered antics of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series was to follow the employees of Damage Control, a clean-up crew who take care of the property destruction and other messes which inevitably result from a superhero battle.

Since that announcement two years ago, however, Damage Control has gone silent, and NBC’s similarly-themed Powerless picked up the slack and filled the same “superhero sitcom” niche.

Still, it might not be over for Damage Control; Spider-Man: Homecoming will feature the unit as a team assembled by Tony Stark, and they will come into conflict with Adrian Toomes, a.k.a. The Vulture, who also runs a salvage operation. Perhaps Vulture’s company will be put out of business by Tony Stark’s well-oiled machine, leading him to embark on a quest of revenge?

Perhaps Damage Control was cancelled when it was folded into Spider-Man, but maybe the series will get a second chance as something of a backdoor pilot within Homecoming. More information will surely come to light as Spider-Man’s July release date approaches.

NEW WARRIORS

One of the MCU’s most adorable characters is Doreen Green, a.k.a. Squirrel Girl, the super-powered teenager with squirrel-like features (including a fluffy tail!) and the ability to communicate with the woodland critters. Her unrelenting positivity is the key to her endearing popularity, and fans have been eagerly-anticipating her inevitable inclusion into Marvel’s cinematic universe.

At long last, they’re getting their wish with New Warriors, the second MCU television series in development for the Freeform network, which will also host the upcoming Cloak & Dagger. New Warriors has been in development since 2016, and the network just gave the show a ten-episode order, ensuring the series will arrive sooner, rather than later.

Like Cloak & Dagger, New Warriors will target the YA demographic of the Freeform network, and focus on the lighthearted adventures of the New Warriors, with a firm focus on the plucky Squirrel Girl, as well as five other members of the team. Over the years, the roster has included an eclectic mix of characters, including Sun Girl, Speedball, Namorita, and Slapstick. It’s currently unknown if any of these characters will appear in the series or what directions the story might take, but New Warriors is definitely one to watch.

MARVEL’S RUNAWAYS

Marvel Studios was working on a feature film of The Runaways way back in 2008, the year the first Iron Man hit theaters. Ultimately, the film was shelved, but the property is being revived as a television series; after conquering Netflix, Marvel is developing its first original series for Hulu.

Runaways follows a group of teenagers who take on a group of supervillains called The Pride. The catch? The middle-aged couples who comprise The Pride are all parents of the Runaways. If done right, the Hulu series has the potential to be a brand new take on the coming-of-age superhero story. The showrunners have a lot of experience in the teen drama genre: Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage made their bones on beloved teen shows Gossip Girl and The O.C.

It’s not 100% clear if Runaways will be part of the MCU or a stand-alone series. Marvel has been strangely silent on the show’s place within their cinematic canon, even when the pilot episode wrapped production in March. The show has yet to be greenlit for a full series order, but it’s reasonable to expect an announcement soon.

UNTITLED JOHN RIDLEY PROJECT

John Ridley Marvel Every Marvel Cinematic Universe Project Currently In Development

In 2015, it was announced that John Ridley was developing a television series based on Marvel Comics for the ABC network. While the writer is most famous for writing the slavery drama 12 Years a Slave, he has plenty of experience in superhero television, having been a writer for animated DC-based projects Static Shock and Justice League.

It’s unclear which character or team Ridley is working on bringing to the small screen, but he seems enthusiastic about the prospect of telling a new story within the established status quo of Marvel’s masked heroes. Of course, the reason Ridley’s taken so long developing his top-secret Marvel project is that he’s one of the most in-demand television auteurs right now; American Crime is currently airing its third season, and his latest show, Guerilla, premieres on Showtime on April 16. Ridley won’t release details on his Marvel show until it’s ready, but, given his track record, it will almost certainly be worth the wait.

Which MCU film are you most excited for? Will Marvel Netflix ever crossover with the big-screen movies? Can we finally get a Moon Knight project off the ground? Sound off in the comments!

2017.01.06 17:46 Fatal1ty_93_RUS [Jan 7th-8th] Cooperation Cup 15 - Everything You Need To Know

What is Cooperation Cup?

Cooperation Cup is the single biggest Street Fighter III: Third Strike tournament in the world, gathering all the legends of the Japanese FGC and the strongest Third Strike players in one place. This year, CoopCup is celebrating its 15th anniversary (that's right, the first CoopCup was held back in 2002!), and with each passing year - the tournament only kept getting bigger (with the exception of 2013)
This year, Cooperation Cup has gathered over 400 players broken into over 100 teams, spread across two formats - Pre-Cooperation Cup and the main event, Cooperation Cup.
Pre-Cooperation Cup is being held the day before the main event, and while it keeps the basic formula of Team vs Team action, its main difference is that in PreCoopCup, the teams consist of just one character (although there are sometimes exceptions to this), while CoopCup itself has teams of up to 5 players consisting of different characters (but having same characters in the same team is not prohibited)
If you want to read on some additional info, you can take a look at a neat infographic created by a French player named jYaZu, you can find it here
This year's Cooperation Cup will be held in Tokyo Leasure Land's arcade heaven known as Palette Town, from January 7th through January 8th
