Vs Mode tips

2020.11.30 04:48 AlSaiduq16 Vs Mode tips

//specially if yoy want to thet the "10 streak"
Note: I was writing this at the end of my last post (the red crown tips) but after realizing the post was huge, I considered it better to just made it a separate post
0.1.- If it annoys you, turn off chirithy
Personally, at least with tricks activated, I find chirtithy to useful, but if you so desire, just go to configuration an turn off voices, though if you care about that, it also eliminates your characters "voices"
As a funfact, on teathrhythm curtain call (don't have the original), there's literally an option on the vs menu to turn off the annunciator.
0.2.- Adjust the sound effects to your liking
Like with other rhythm games, I know there's quite the discussion of how the prompt sound effects are more annoying, even going to the point to turn them off.
And well, I can't blame them, specially with this game were there's quite the imbalance, specially with memory dives and boss battles, were the sounds can become a cacophony that "swallows" the song.
But the sound effects are quite useful for feedback purposes, since in "real time" it lets you hear the "rhythm" that you are following, letting you adjust yoursfelf accordingly, which is why I never ever deactivate sound effects.
Usually, I stay with the default options, but for this game, I actually lowered it to 1, which I found to be more enjoyable.
So yeah, in general, toy with the config until you get the perfect sound and button setup for yourself
1.- Play with headphones (or with high volume) whenever you can
Vs can get pretty messy depending on the tricks you get (or by default, how many rainbows you need).
Personally, I find it to be quite easier to play a song with headphones, there's been a lot of times I get bad luck with the tricks and become pretty much incapable of seeing the enemies, but still win because I still could clearly "hear" the song, and therefore followed the rhythm.
And when it comes to trickless matches (or very heated trick matches), where the victory comes from getting as many rainbow excelents as possible, I find it to be more easier to get lots of those with headphones.
You don't need to play always with headphones, but keep in mind that advantage for whenever you need it
2.- Stay on your "league"
Before searching for a match, the game asks you to choose a difficulty (and also trick availability, but that isn't the issue right now), either begginer, standard, proud, or random
You may be tempted to go inmediately to proud for the challenge, or if you are a good player, to "lower" yourself to either begginer or standard.
But my advice is, after playing a lot and watching a lot of streams, if you want to win consistently a lot of times is better just being "honest" to your current level and staying on that diffuculty.
If you are a "begginer", moving to standard or nomura forbid proud will get you destroyed with misses and or "deaths"
If you are "proud", is easier to "rush" on songs with less notes, like standard or begginer, making it more likely to get "goods" or even misses.
And as the "meta" is trying to get as many excelents (or higher) without breaking the chain as possible, that can signify utter defeat.
Consistency with difficulty is key to victory
3.- Turn on the Tricks
This might me a little "controversial" due to the Trick's infamy of "destroying" runs when bad luck comes, and truth be told, this is more personal experience than anything, but let me explain.
On a "perfect" match, both players either have a full chain or the same number of misses (extremely rarely I've seen someone with more misses win), giving them a "close" score (arrow on the middle), with the rainbows and normal excellents being the deal breakers.
This scenario is quite common on trickless mode, since both players are able to play "normally", and if a player knows the song, is most likely to dominate that match (or if both players know it, it could lead to the "who has more rainbows" scenario, the "hardest" level of play)
With tricks on the other hand, this scenario is quite more rare, because a trick can give room to a player to miss, get goods, or getting normal excelents instead of rainbows, even with songs that they dominate, "balancing the tables"
Keep in mind that this goes for both players, but this gives room for "lower players being able to win against higher players", which can work very well on your bennefit, specially if you are good enough with tricks and or have a song absolutely mastered, letting you win against "same level" players.
Also be aware that there are "Song Masters" out there, players that have learned a specific song (or nomura forbade songs) to such a level that they are perfectly capable getting high 980k-990k score consistently on that song, even with tricks activated! Getting match with those players can be insta loss.
Anywho, just keep in mind what I told you, but in the end you should choose whatever style of match you prefer
4.- Find your "Main" song
Following the last point, now my advice is that you should strive to become a "Song Master" in a least one song.
This song should be one you like to hear (and play) a lot, so you won't get sick of it.
This will be your "dealbreaker" a song that most likely will give an "auto win" against someone.
Of course you will only be able to use 1-2 non consecutive times for each opponent (since if you start spamming a song they'll likely refuse to rematches), and there's still the 50% chance of your song not getting selected, but this is quite a way to get "easy" victories, specially when you are close to the streak of 10 and have to risk it anyways.
My personal main, for example, is "Makaukau", so far I've dominated every match with that song (either vs or com), since I play it quite a lot.
5.- Get used to "every" song (at least, the ones that give you problems)
Due to the RNG factor of your opponent chance of selecting a song, getting a song that you never or rarely ever played is a sure way to get destroyed.
Consistency is key, I repeat.
So for your own safety, I recommend playing "conciously" "every" song:
With conciously, I mean that you need to be aware of what's happening in the song (the rhythm, the beat, the melody, etc), how every enemy "relates" to that.
With this game, I've seen a lot of comments in the style of "this part of the song doesn't make sense to me", with to be fair, is a pretty understandable feeling.
But let me assure, that most (if not all) of the songs make conmplete sense when you start "hearing conciously" (hence my recomendation of headphones), and the moment you finally give sense to that tricky part, you'll see how inmediately it becomes a non issue
With "every", i don't mind exactly all songs, for a few simple reasons: First (and most obvious) not all songs are available on vs mode (like melody dives), second, it would be ridicolous to ask someone "hey, you want to play VS mode? Not until you learn every song har har", that just would ruin the fun of the game, and third and most important, not all songs are "played" in vs.
I mean, just by odds and scale alone is safe to asume every song has already been selected a least once in at least one match.
But let's be smart, you can choose your own song, so you can keep out the ones you don't enjoy
For the opponent song on the other hand, you need to observe the "trends", the songs that get commonly chosen, and based on that, the ones you need to learn.
For example, I've never seen (nor like to play) "Beauty and the Beast", but I've seen a lot of "Old rivals", which is quite a tricky song, so I should try to learn that instead of stubbornly hoping I eventually win just by playing vs.
6.- "Meta" Songs
Following the last point out, I'll mention the songs that I've seen more commonly, with obvious intention of messing with the player for an "easy win", practice those so they don't blindside you (or choose to blindside, just be good in them, or you'll humilliate yourself:
-Old Rivals
  • One Winged Angel
  • The 13th struggle
-All For One
-One for All
-Dark Domination
-Monstruos Monstro
-L sanctoire
-Working together (piano)
-Sora (piano)
  • Keyblade Graveyard
  • Enter the Darkness
  • The hollow bastion/radiant garden songs, all
  • Prankster Paradise (usually easy, quite messy with tricks)
  • Wave of Darkness (posthoumolly, haven't seen in the week)
  • L impeto Oscuro/ Oscurita dl ignoto (both songs only have one "tricky" part that can get you destroyed, bottom of the high tier)
7.- Try to avoid Demo songs
At least for a while more, don't choose "Hand in Hand", "Welcome to Wonderland", "Rustling Forest" or "Wave of Darkness"
The reason is simple, a lot of prominent MoM players started with the demo, and we had like a month with only those songs, mastering them.
Hence Wave of Darkness "fell" from grace, early on players tried to blindside others with it, only to get destroyed because "everyone" knows it.
So until the original "demo players" become a minority, you are better not choosing them
8.- In general, don't repeat songs a lot
With the "meta" list, you could have thought "well, then I just spam those songs for easy wins, like everybody does", but it doesn't work quite well on the long run.
First, it looks bad to be one of those "spammers" players are likely to refuse rematches (or even disconnect) if they catch on that you only want to "take advantage" of them
Second, the songs become "trendy", which ultimately means that players get to practice them more (either on matches or on their own), until the "challenge" dissapears, so they stop being effective.
Not only the "meta" songs I mentioned are spammed, so in general if you want a song to be effective, be careful on how much you use it.
9.- "Obscure" Tricky Songs (that are easy to learn!)
This time I won't give a list, since is something I'm still "researching" myself, but there's a pretty "reliable" way to defeat even high tier players.
As I've said before, the more "popular" the song, the easier it becomes over time to play against it, so the obvious answer would be, choose never used songs... and that's only "half right"
On my research I've found a lot of "rare songs" that are actually quite easy, but my opponents always end up making a lot of misses (or at least, they perform worse than they usually do) because they get confused by some enemy and rhythm placements.
Just to name a few, "Castle Escapade" "Rise of the union", and "Vim and Vigor" are quite effective on that regard
But remember LEARN those songs (again, the trick is that they are also easy) before using them, it doesn't work if you get destroyed by your own song >_>
10.- Slow songs ftw
Kinda a rule of thumb, but every rhythm game player "struggles" more with slow songs (we tend to rush), and in this game were there's quite a few, that could translate to less rainbows, more goods, or even some misses
11.- Don't get destroyed by your own songs
I mentioned this quite a bit already, but its important that it stick on your head that, if you struggle with the songs you choose, WTF ARE YOU DOING?!
Learn a song before using it, or you'll just humilliate yourself
12.- Player "etiquette" to get more rematches
Getting rematches actually increases a bit the rates of rare cards, but that's not all.
Let's say, for example, you find an "easy opponent" that you can defeat easily, but is also eager to rematches, you don't want to loose that player, either for cards or for the streak of 10 feat.
An easy way to get those players to stay is actually quite simple, just pay attention to the songs they are choosing, are they having bad luck and their song isn't chosen? And the core of this tip, are they failing to get the same song?
If the answer is yes, just choose THEIR song on the next rematch, if the song selection shows the same song, the opponent will see it as a "nice gesture"
What's more, a lot of times the other player start choosing YOUR song to mantain the gesture, which in my opinion is a win-win.
Also is actually quite heartwarming when it happens to you first <3
Also, this is less effective and more luck dependant, but if you win a match, and the card selection shows a platinum card (that you don't need), leave that to the other player.
Update: lol forgot to add this 2
13.- The extremely easy (but hard to set up) method to get the 10 streak, guaranteed.
For this, we'll try to take advantage of the matchmaking system, so you need to have a friend (that doesn't mind getting their rank lowered and/or also needs the 10 streak) with the same system as yours (I think I heard there's no crossplay), MoM for the 2 (obviously), and that both have the respective console Online system.
Also for this to work more efficiently, both players have to have a similaclose hiiigh rating (though it probably wil get thrown out of the window, so don't obsess about it).
Now comes the hard part, as everyone knows there's no Invite/Private Room option in vs mode (square plz patch), but some khtubers have found a way to play against each other (I name ProdigyxCD and Bio-Roxas as my sources for this method).
Matchmaking is quite simple, the moment you select online you are given the option to choose your 2 main settings (difficulty and tricks), once you agree to them the system will inmediately look up and try to match against someone with the exact same settings as you)
So the method is just, agree with a friend on a setting (you could also try to see which settings are more "rare" to increase your chances), and then try to agree on the settings roughly at the same time.
If one of the parties is matched against someone else (which can happen a lot, this can take time)., the matched one should inform the other one inmediately so they can back out of the searching screen, while the matched one has to play, since there are no forfeiting option, amd disconnecting is both rude and dangerous).
Once the match is over, try again.
If luck's on your side, and you get matched against your friend, I believe is obvious what you need to do now, just ask your friend to let you win 10 consecutive times (or less if you already have a streak going out), no rng dependant, no skill required.
And as a courtesy (and maybe to try to "recover" the lost rating) you should let your friend beat you to get the streak.
Also, you could argue if setup this is also a decent way to farm cards, since you could have theorical infinite rematches (and with open communication, you can let your friend know which card not to pick, and vice versa)
14.- Consider to wait a bit after refusing a rematch against a "dangerous" player
It seems that when it comes to online, a lot of players (me included) tend to inmediately initiate a search for a player when their match ends.
This gives way to the curious phenomenom of getting matched against the same player you just fought twice, or even thrice (happened to me this morning xD)
This could be really troublesome if your last match was against someone that you consider "dangerous", for whatever reason (picks only the hardest/trickiest songs to mess you up, didn't miss notes in tricky parts with harsh judge, got a 990k score, destroyed you on various consecutive rematches, dropped the conection, etc).
So if you backed up from a dangerous player, better wait up 10-40 seconds (the margin of time it usually takes to get matched) to near eliminate your chances of inmediately getting a rematch against them again (though there's still the chace of finding them on another match in the same session, or even other day, but you can't control that)

2020.11.20 20:32 nintendonaut To the people in these discussion threads incessantly spouting off "You just want to farm noobs and dominate lobbies."

I don't know why this back and forth is even still occurring at this point unless people are willfully ignorant. It isn't all that complicated.
If you're going to take away CoD's traditional sense of skill progression, you have to replace it with something else. Currently, there is no replacement.
You want to implement this strict form of performance-based matchmaking so people can't dominate lobbies anymore? Okay. Fine. The problem is, up until recent CoD's, how much or how little you could dominate in pubs was the way you measured your growth as a player. Once you learned the maps, spawn flow, the loadouts and perk combos you liked, and settled into your groove being able to have those dominating games—That's how you knew you were getting mastery over the game. Activision has taken that away. Okay. Fine. So now how do I measure my progression in skill? Do I get a rank of some kind that I can see rising and falling?
"I was being placed in Silver lobbies last month, but this month I'm being more consistently placed in Gold lobbies. Improvement!"
Nope. To quote the Nine Inch Nails song, "There is no love here, and there is no pain. Every day is exactly the same." You slog through a strict matchmaking system, completely blindfolded, that attempts to ensure you average around a 1.00KD as much as possible. If you do have a breakout game where you might think you feel a little improvement, the system will quickly compensate and make sure that doesn't happen next game. This creates a constant "blindness" pertaining to feeling out your own skill. Since the lobbies are not visibly labeled to the player in terms of easier or harder, all performance is eternally damned to be second guessed.
If you have a good game, it could mean either:

A. You had a breakout game/are improving.
B. The system took pity on you and matched you up with lower-skill opponents to give you a boost.

If you have a bad game, it could mean either:

A. You're regressing/doing something wrong that needs correcting.
B. The system has deemed your recent performance too standout, and is therefore "punishing" you in order to try to "average out" your KD/performance.

But none of this information is shared with the player in any visible way. It's all a mysterious, ever-shifting background process handled by an algorithm. With no way left at all to perceive progression, the only possible emotional reactions to that could be frustration, confusion, and exasperation. I know that no matter how long I practice and play, my gameplay experience will be largely the same, game after game—With no perceived "improvement" or growth available. How is that an enjoyable experience?
So you want to take away my ability to drop 4.00KD games in TDM? Fine. Not a problem. But you have to give me another way to measure my improvement instead, and that doesn't exist at this time.

2020.11.17 08:51 SlyAugustine Push and pull is very important (story)

I’m tired of the weird tips that I see posted on here quite often, and upvoted. So I wanted to make a post from the point of view of an admittedly shy guy 22 year old guy who used to not have the best luck with women, but has since figured out a fairly decent formula to overcome the madness of the dating world.
So here’s my story,
I matched with this girl (let’s call her Emily) on tinder, and we chatted for a bit. I got her Snapchat and we casually talked, and I think I showed her a song I knew on guitar. Left it for a bit, then decided I wanted beer, so I planned to go to Walmart. On the way there, on a whim, I said fuck it and asked if she wanted to come too. She excitedly accepted and I went to pick her up. We were both a little shy at first but she was fun and engaged by the time I was driving her back to her place, so I asked, hey do you wanna go get milkshakes? That was where it all turned. We got the milkshakes, and once again I was driving her back to her apartment. However, this time, she asks me if I want to come hang out with her and drink.
Before I go any further, I want to express how important it is to have push and pull in relationships with women or men. I offered the milkshakes as a push, then she offered me to come back afterwards as a natural pull reaction.
Of course a little luck is involved on this part, but if you’re both interested in eachother, she’ll make the effort to give you that pull reaction. If she doesn’t, don’t make another push until you receive a pull. Vice versa if she gives you a push.
So we go back, start drinking, hang out with her roommate some. Her roommate invites another guy over and we all go to the bar together. We order some shots and these two girls come over who know Emily’s roommate. I actually knew one of the girls so I turned away from Emily and chatted with her for a bit (push), but after a little bit I bring my focus back to Emily who now says she wants to buy me a drink for the milkshake I bought her earlier (pull).
Anyways, we finish drinking and go back to her place. Crazily enough she gets into a fight with her roommate who was honestly way out of line so I don’t blame her. The guy her roommate was with, and I make some hilarious eye contact and let it pass by. Eventually, her roommate storms out and we’re all left alone. Emily starts to cry because she feels bad so I put my hand on her leg and start gently rubbing it (push), and she lays her head on my shoulder (pull). She gets it all out and we both decide it’s time for me to go so I head out since it was 2am. On purpose, I made it casual and didn’t give her a hug on the way out (push). Don’t think I’m an asshole here, because I was very very kind to her while she was upset and was holding her before this reassuring her that she wasn’t in the wrong. She even told me later on she wishes I had hugged her but it made her want me more that I didn’t. Also keep in mind, I am shy, and didn’t want to overstep anything on my first day knowing someone in person. I’ve always thought of goodbye hugs as a couple-esque thing too.
The next day we just had casual conversation because she worked all day.
The day after, she messages me again and asks if I want to come over and help her with schoolwork (pull). We basically just wound up watching tv instead with my arm around her and her head on my shoulder. I made the effort to make some jokes about our cuddling and how we couldn’t quite get it right to lighten the mood. She also got me to pop her back in that way where someone stands in front of you, and you wrap your arms around them and pull them up and towards you. I thought this was an obvious push by her, but that one is 50/50, cause some people’s backs really do be hurting doe.
Anyways, she says we should go out again and get margaritas, and who doesn’t love a margarita, so I accept.
We go to the Mexican restaurant bar and I know our (admittedly attractive) server, so I chat her up for a bit (push) to make it clear I know other women and they like me (even though the server and I aren’t super close, kudos to you Cassidy for acting like we were good friends). We finish our drinks and head back to her place and start watching TV again and cuddling.
We cuddle for a bit longer and talk in a semi flirty way. I eventually say to her, “hey there’s one more thing I wanted to do though” and go in for the kiss as she’s smiling and looking up at me (push). I kiss her for maybe 5 seconds and attempt to retract (push) but she pulls me back in (pull, literally lol). Eventually, I retract for the last time after a decent makeout session. I didn’t make it too sexual either during the kissing to make her want it more, since I’m not giving obvious signs that I want it (push)
Small edit: It was at this moment that my friends invited me to the bar (I forgot this part earlier, so sorry for anyone who read my earlier version of this post). So I ask her if she wants to go (push). Of course, she accepts (pull). We go and just order one pitcher of beer and split it between us. Anyways, I turn my attention to my friends some while we’re at the bar (push). And she turns her attention to another girl who is there with one of my friends (nice push, Emily). Eventually we both turn back to eachother and continue our conversation (2x pull). I sneakily put my hand on her thigh to let her know I was interested in her still, and wanted to touch her (push). She lays her hand on top of mine at one point to reaffirm the feeling (pull).
Eventually, we leave the bar and walk back over to her place and cuddle for an hour or so.
However, we watch some more tv, then start kissing again. It gets more intense this time and she backs away and says “I like you, and I want to fuck you, but I want you to know if we do, then I’ll definitely like you”. Most men, this would scare off, which I think was her goal, but I liked her too so I said “yeah, I like you too, but just do what you want to do” (push). Well, she liked that response so she tells me to come back up to her room (pull).
Long story short, we had sex and that was fun.
Additionally, Emily has made most of the push efforts since then. We’ve only been talking for a couple days since this, but she’s invited me over to help her with various things twice since this. Even asked me at midnight one night to go get Taco Bell (push). Then on the drive back she asks to come to my place to eat (push) and of course I accept. She’s sitting in my desk chair and I’m on the bed while we eat. Eventually, we both finish and I invite her onto the bed with me (pull). We kissed a little bit, but it was late and a school night (we’re both in a masters program) so we didn’t take it any further.
What I wanted to get across with this is there’s push and pull to every good matchmaking session. You can’t do all the pushing, and neither should they. There should be a good balance between the two that you should strive to have until you get under the sheets. It builds tension and doesn’t put too much pressure on either party.
Also, why I talked to the other girls I knew while I was with her, (other than being friendly of course cause I’m not just going to ignore people I know of course) was so she would know I potentially had other options besides her and wasn’t desperate. Girls find it attractive when other girls are interested in you or find you attractive.
I also want to add that alcohol is not an important factor in this story. Sure alcohol loosens you up, but the only time we hung out where I would consider us both drunk, was the night her roommate and her got into the fight. Never make a move on someone who is visibly drunk, as they cannot fully consent, emotionally, or physically. The day we got margaritas, we both had a small one and that was all. Then, the pitcher at the bar was the only other alcohol we had that day. I make it a point to not let alcohol influence early stages of a relationship because that leads to depending on alcohol to get along with one another (loosen up).
Not sure why I wrote all of this but I hope it helps. There’s a lot that goes into matchmaking other than this such as confidence, attractiveness, etc...but this tip is meant as butter on top of the confident attractive cake. I wouldn’t call myself super confident or super attractive, but being somewhere in the middle, this method manages to work for me with 75% of girls who show interest in me. You just have to make sure you don’t push too much or they’ll be scared away. My rule is, two pushes maximum before receiving a pull. Then it resets. If two doesn’t work, leave it and move on, because they’re most likely not interested or playing hard to get.

2020.11.16 03:05 MiceforsellinSF Real ascendence? Warning: Don’t read if positive posts make you feel worse FFS!

As a few of you know, I had a date Friday with a girl (Yuno) I met in person at a Halloween party. If you want to know how it went, read. If not, don’t read. Or skim it. It’s long.
So as a recap for people who’ve never read or remember my posts, I moved in with my biggest crush (Abby, a coworker from college) and her husband (Rodriguez) when I got evicted. I was originally living with my emotionally abusive family after the eviction.
I did have sex with Abby, but it was only after I told them I was a virgin. Rodriguez has been sexually actively since 12, so he was okay with it as long as he wasn’t home (except the first time; I’d been living with them for weeks, but he wanted to be sure she was safe with me). They initially wanted a threesome, but they respected that I wasn’t ready for that when hearing my history.
I originally thought it was ascendence, but since what I really wanted was a girlfriend, I didn’t feel like I had once I processed it. Kind of like guys who are on here who’ve had sex with escorts.
Abby introduced me online to Yuno, and once we started chatting over Google duo, I quit having sex with Abby because it felt like cheating. Yuno was aware that Abby and I had had sex. Abby told her a lot about me so I would have a better chance plus I wouldn’t have to talk about it or lie.
We met at Halloween and she seemed to like me in person. Last Wednesday, I invited her over for Friday and my roommates stayed in a hotel. I’ve been living with them for months, so they likely enjoyed their alone time.
She’d asked to visit in the past to cook Vietnamese food for me since I mentioned liking it. I didn’t know she was Vietnamese then so that made her happy that I liked her culture’s food.
Finally, I dressed up and didn’t wear lifts since she knew I was short. She cooked pho along with pickled meat and tofu; apparently the broth takes forever since she’d been cooking since Thursday. She even brought red bean rice ice cream made by her. I felt like a loser because I’d just been pacing and posting on here Friday. My roommates helped me make the house look nice.
When she got there, she hugged me and kissed my cheek. It was awkward at first without Abby there to play matchmaker. Yuno looked the same in person as she did online (her costume concealed a lot at the party). She’s a thin, short (4’10) girl who has big almond-shaped eyes and delicate facial features. To be blunt, she wasn’t as hot as Abby, but she’s very cute. Her hair is long and not dyed, and she has no tattoos and only pierced ears. She was wearing a leather skirt and cute top that slightly showed her stomach paired with combat boots.
She had the food cooked so she just had to heat it up. I’ve never been on a real date so dinner was awkward, but her cooking was incredible and she was happy that I liked it. We ended up talking about music and listened to the Smiths and Modest Mouse while we ate.
After desert, we cuddled and watched 1000 lb sisters. (Her choice.) She said she liked watching people with problems worse than hers. Later I asked her what she meant and she told me, but I know she wouldn’t want me posting about it. During the show, there was a wedding and she cried and I licked her tears off and she started kissing me. Then she cried again when the bigger sister couldn’t have surgery. She buried her head in my chest and grabbed my arms looking confused and then said “Oh, you really do work out!”
I mentioned how I exercise during these times when we can’t go to the gym here and she wanted me to teach her. I’ve never written about how I workout on this forum, but it’s pole fitness which builds a lot of upper body strength. I taught her some simple spins and she wanted me to strip for her. I wanted her to strip for me (mainly because I was nervous). She brought out a fucking pendulum and asked it who should strip. Of course it was me.
I stripped to some Lady Gaga song and gave her a lap dance. I really hope my roomies didn’t have a secret camera set up. She started pulling me down and I told her it was against the rules to touch customers. She said “Fuck the rules” and we did end up having sex.
I found out she was a virgin and freaked out. I didn’t want to hurt her so I gave her a safety word. I’ll spare the details, but she did want to go more than once.
Afterwards, we cuddled and she wanted to spend the night. It took awhile, but I fell asleep holding her and she was there when I woke up. She was apparently competing with Abby in who can oversleep the longest. I had to pee, but didn’t want to wake her. Finally I had to so I wouldn’t piss on her and when I went back in she was beginning to stir. I whispered her name and she looked disorientated then smiled and covered her mouth. I laughed and gave her some morning breathe gum Abby uses. I took some too. She wanted to talk in bed so we did. It was far less awkward now.
We ate then played with swords and guns (both fake) and I let her win. She taught me her yoga routine and we tried couple’s yoga. She was still there when my roommates came back. Abby acted delighted, but I know her well enough now to know she was sad.
Finally, we made plans for a double date next weekend and she left. (I say “finally” because I needed some alone time; it wasn’t an insult towards her.)
After Abby called her, she said Yuno was happy and wished I could be her boyfriend. She’s willing to let me come to her apartment now.
Conclusion: If you’re a 5’3 manlet rapidly approaching wizard status like me who needed plastic surgery to no longer look like a truecel and is now occasionally mistaken for a girl, your chances aren’t great, but they aren’t nonexistent. I hope this serves as lifefuel for manlets.
After this thread, I’ll likely still visit the sub, but I won’t mention I have a girlfriend (I think I have a girlfriend?). I may mention my roommates, since I’m not dating a married couple. In time, I hope I love her like I do Abby. Also, no more sex with Abby. I’m not cheating on Yuno and I’ll try to never make her sad. She’s been hurt before, and I’d like to help her overcome some issues from her past. If I need to talk about it, I’ll do so on a relationship sub.
If you’re thinking “I don’t want to see this guy posting anymore since I know he’s getting laid, regardless of the sub being available to everyone whether or not their virginity has been lost” or “All his hundreds of posts here are larping! Like, a long-game con with no payoff but larping with no payoff!” simply block me. I do it to people on here I’d rather not see comments from and it’s a great feature.

2020.11.13 16:20 i_rank_tvshows BLACK MIRROR - Official* Ranking of Every Episode

BLACK MIRROR - Official* Ranking of Every Episode
*official in the sense that this is what u/i_rank_tvshows thinks and that's pretty official
RANK # EPISODE TITLE SYNOPSIS ANALYSIS
#23 Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too s5e3 Miley Cyrus pop-star doll Perhaps the most frightening episode of the series because we are left to wonder if every future episode of Black Mirror will be this bad. God I hope not because this crap was near unwatchable.
#22 Metalhead s4e5 Black-and-white dog robot I don't mind the stylistic choice to shoot in black-and-white. And I like the design of the robot dog. But combined together with this story, it's pretty boring, I gotta say. Hoping to like this one more next rewatch but I have my doubts.
#21 Arkangel s4e2 Child-monitoring system While I appreciate the show trying to pull back on the direct focus on tech and shift towards a more domestic setting, it all just fell kind of flat. The retread of the grain technology left this one feeling like a soft idea with decent execution.
#20 Crocodile s4e3 Trying to get away with murder in world where memory tech exists This one is shot beautifully. Switching to Iceland for the setting allowed this one to feel refreshing. The story, however, left a lot to be desired and lost me right when she killed her accomplice. The memory thread was interesting, but leaving it up to a guinea pig when they could have gone for a more ambiguous ending was a tad off for me.
#19 Men Against Fire s3e5 Implant warps solider's perception So the overall moral of this story is not lost on me and is pretty effective in its message. Again, the story suffers, though, as it's not at all as engaging once the conceit has been discovered.
#18 The Waldo Moment s2e3 A blue cartoon bear wins election Watching this one way back before Netflix picked up Black Mirror, this episode seemed like a fun satire. Now, at the tail end of Trump's first term, it's painful, frustrating and upsetting to watch. I suppose that makes it spot on.
#17 The National Anthem s1e1 Prime Minister and a pig Again, back before Netflix picked it up, I tried to get others to watch the show and this episode blocked at least half of them from continuing. It's a bleak entry that still feels so unlike the others, I still have trouble believing it was the very first one. The reveal of it being an art piece was satisfying though.
#16 Smithereens s5e2 Social media abduction The critique of social media is a bit on the nose, but the performances in this one are good. (Why is Topher Grace in everything, though?) I liked the return to London as a setting as this season felt more disconnected from the rest and that helped at least this entry feel included.
#15 Striking Vipers s5e1 Friends get intimate in video game I thought this idea was brilliant and explored well throughout the episode. Performances were stellar. This one got my hopes up for the overall season, but that letdown has probably shaded my thoughts a little more negatively upon reflection. I'm glad that when the guys got into a fight near the end, one didn't accidentally kill the other as that trope is well worn in similar stories.
#14 Hated in the Nation s3e6 #DeathTo On paper, this one should be one of my favorites. Killer robot bees targeting people who spew hate online. Maybe its the long-running time, but something about this one doesn't keep me locked in throughout. Hoping it gets better on rewatches.
#13 Black Museum s4e6 Museum of Black Mirror artifacts Remember when only that song connected Black Mirror episodes? Feels like a long time ago. When I first saw this one, I was thrilled to see all the easter eggs. But it's a bit too much, no? Especially in this season full of them. The vignettes are at least interesting in this one, but I guess I'm a bit deflated I didn't enjoy this one more.
#12 Nosedive s3e1 Rate your personality Honestly, it may be the show's most poignant execution of an idea. I mean, it's even permeated the subreddit with the rankings by the name. It's a distillation of the existential dread social media has come to represent in society. Good performances throughout. A great episode that probably should serve as newcomer's intro to the show, I think.
#11 Shut Up and Dance s3e3 Hacker blackmail I considered making this one my HOTTEST TAKE because I know some consider it the best in the entire series. But I think the ranking is fair because I too really enjoy it. The reveal is well-earned and still satisfying even though it's incredibly fucked up. Alex Lawther really gives a great performance.
#10 Be Right Back s2e1 Android replacement for lost loved one I'm gonna say Hayley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson give the best performances of the series in this one. Grief, anger, acceptance. It's all handled beautifully. No complaints on this one; just well-executed and pleasantly heartbreaking.
#9 Bandersnatch special Choose-your-own-adventure HOTTEST TAKE ALERT! I'm a sucker for CYOA stories so this one satisfied me in a way I never thought possible. The replayability, though, suffers a bit as the perceived variety isn't on par with what I hoped or expected. The story is decent if not a bit rough in parts. It's my hottest take because I do see a lot fans trash it for being a letdown, so they aren't completely wrong. I have it this high on the list for the concept alone.
#8 White Bear s2e2 Mob-recorded criminal justice Or is this my hot take? I know it's several fans' favorite episode and why wouldn't it be? It such a great one with a powerful message, haunting imagery, and the dark sensibility we all cherish in the show. It's only this low because I like those ranked above it that much more.
#7 Fifteen Million Merits s1e2 Exercise bikes powering dystopian entertainment Definitely the episode that got me hooked. Felt like I was discovering a whole new world. Since it was the first written for the series, it really feels like the seed from which the rest sprouts.
#6 Playtest s3e2 Video game haunted house This ones just a lot of fun. Scary, funny, well-acted, and the twist at the end is a mindfuck. Great concept and execution.
#5 The Entire History of You s1e3 'Grain' implants A perfect blending of domestic drama and inventive tech. It feels like a real-world story that would be reasonable in a more advanced future. Also, Toby Kebbell absolutely astonishes with his performance. Memorable to say the least.
#4 Hang the DJ s4e4 Dating app matchmaking algorithm A feel good Black Mirror episode. Boy, do I enjoy those. This one kept me guessing until the end reveal. And when that song kicks in and they meet eyes across the room, that's some good shit. I suspect others won't cherish this one as much, but it's one that always makes me smile.
#3 San Junipero s3e4 Consciousness in virtual reality system The only other feel good Black Mirror episode. It's a classic, so much unlike the darkness of the rest of the series at the time of its release. It's importance and accolades are well covered at this point and this ranking is me saying I agree. Truly a reinvention of what the show's capable of achieving.
#2 White Christmas special Cookies Easily the best tech invented by the show: the cookie. It's resonated elsewhere throughout the series based on its brilliance, but it's never captured as satisfyingly as it is here in the three-part special. Everything about this one is incredible and if it's your number one episode, that makes a lot of sense. Great, great, fucking great.
#1 USS Callister s4e1 Space opera simulated reality I'm not even a Star Trek fan, but I may check it out now after seeing this episode. All the parts work so satisfyingly in this one: Plemons as a villian, funny space drama, creative/dark conceit, and a great ending. I don't think another episode will ever top it in my rankings, but if one does, it'll probably just be White Christmas reasserting its dominance.
Anyway, thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed it.

2020.11.13 03:02 Vanilasong I noticed that some of Loona's solo mvs have references to some fairy tales.

I didn't notice any for all the mvs (Or maybe there is,But I just didn't notice),And I'm not sure if this important to the whole Loonaverse mumbo jumbo,But this is just something cool I noticed.
-Vivid
I think there's some Alice In Wonderland references thanks to all the bunnies and the peep hole/door scenes which Heejin peeps into which kinda resembles the Rabbit Hole,And the set with all the floating objects to add to the rabbit hole theme. Also the painting type filter kinda looks like 50s disney movie artstyles.Something about the entire mv feels so Alice In Wonderland to me,Despite the song being a total Disney Villain anthem.
-Kiss Later
This ones totally obvious so I'll keep it short as possible.Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty for the opening scene and the Frog Prince for everything else afterwards.
-Everyday I love You/Singing in The Rain
I am gonna group these together cause I saw a bit of a Little Mermaid theme with both of these two.I think Everyday I love You is more dependant on the story as Vivi is looking/observing the guy (Off topic,But at first I thought he was Beomgyu from Txt for some reason) from afar without a way to communicate or reach him until the end.Singing in the Rain is more aesthetic focused and might just be a bit of stretch but with the fish everywhere and maybe the way she was floating in the water seemed like when the Little Mermaid got her legs. The way her skirt, blanket whatever was laid out in the scene glass square and the plants surrounding her looked like a mermaid tail as well.
-Heart Attack
I think there is some references to the Little Matchmaker and with Chuu being lost in the snow and then being in a warm house with Yves.Which could be how the Little Matchmaker was able to go into a warm and safe place with her grandma. There is also nods to lots of Cupid myths from Greek mythology but maybe the legend of Narcissism could be in there,With Chuu being Echo and peeping around, trying to make Yves notice her and Yves being Narcissus.

2020.11.12 06:38 Earllad Little bit of feedback

I’m having a great time with the game, it’s got some great challenge and hits the nostalgia factor right on the head. The track design is incredible, with excellent variety. I’ve just got a few suggestions that IMHO would make it even better:
  1. Some of the sounds are a bit obnoxious- I’m talking about the confirmation ‘whoosh’ when you select a race more than anything else. And the ‘boost ready’ voice line. Is there a chance those might be configurable to just a simple beep or something? Or, just plain moddable/replaceable? I haven’t peeked at the game files yet.
  2. The music system is fantastic. All the song choices are really on point. I love that I can toggle the few that kill the vibe for me and it’s cool that you can set a new track any time, I just wish it didn’t have to be done through the menu. I know button real estate is tight on game pads, but is it possible for ‘next track’ to be bindable at least for keyboard?
  3. It feels odd to me that you can choose to carry two weapons, but get to hold only one charge. It’d be nice to be able to hold a charge for each one separately, for some better strategy and combos. I know that would affect balance for most game modes. Possibly even a race option where you could set much higher limits for some real chaos. Also, I feel like ‘no weapon’ should be a valid choice- running less mass and getting some performance in return.
  4. Time trial ghosts - I have been assuming the ghost is my own best time- but there is a leaderboard - how stinking cool would it be if you could choose to race instead against the ghost of the next guy up on the leaderboard? Show their name and let you see that you beat their time. Then, it pops up the next one. Also, developer ghosts should be a thing!
Beyond that, I just wish there were more players. On PC, I rarely find someone through matchmaking. Here’s hoping the community grows some more!

2020.11.11 10:06 cant_ignore_cheese NuWho Season Six Ranked, Reviewed and Rated from Someone Who Can’t Ignore Cheese

After the absolute thrill ride that was Season 5 (review here), there was one question on everyone’s lips – was Moffat’s and Smith’s second outing going to be a good as their first? Well, if there’s one thing that can be said about this season, it’s definitely bigger! This review is by far my longest one yet but, as always, there’s episode rankings at the bottom if that’s what you’re here for - it’s time to continue through my rewatch of NuWho with Season 6!
A CHRISTMAS CAROL (7.5/10)
There’s no better place to start off with this review with a special that is regarded as a brilliant episode that I’m actually not as keen on. To start though, Michael Gambon and Katherine Jenkins both put in amazing performances in this episode (there’s even a brilliant performance from Young Kazran too) and thanks to some fantastic moments in the script, have a fantastic drive and emotion to their characters that really draws you in. Moffat adapts Dickens' classic story well and adds an interesting sci-fi slant onto it, making the episode the most Christmassy Who has been so far but its use of a story that is constantly remade means that, despite the touches it adds, we know the basic outcome of the story. Furthermore, I disagree with the Doctor manipulating someone's entire history to change their character for his favour as it feels inauthentic to a character who constantly states that history can’t be changed yet the middle bulk where the Doctor is travelling with Young Kazran and Abigail is the best part of this story for me and prevents the episode from being a pure rehash of a well-known story. This episode at its best when it focuses on its characters and forgets it’s sci-fi slants (space fish and flying sleighs do nothing for me) and origin story - it’s an entertaining episode though and the best Christmas episode so far yet for me, it has its issues.
THE IMPOSSIBLE ASTRONAUT/DAY OF THE MOON (10/10)
We’re diving headfirst into the heavy stuff this season with what might be the most ambitious season opener to ever feature on NuWho – because the Doctor is dead. In the first 10 minutes of the opening episode. Killed by an impossible while a silent invasion stretching back thousands of years is coming to light. And things really don’t let up from there because there’s also Amy’s pregnancy mystery, the River Song reveal being teased and a child who is actually a Time Lord on top of the best new villain since the Vashta Nerada in Season Four - The Silence are a fantastic enemy that have an excellent central gimmick (that you forget them the moment you look away is a great way to mess with your audience) and a memorable design to boot. Moffat really knows what he’s got with the Silence and manages to get all the scares and thrills he possibly can from them.
The performances are also there with all of the cast – Smith genuinely manages to make you believe there is a 200-year-gap between the Doctor at Lake Utah and the present day version and Gillan feels much more secure in what is a toned down version of Amy that retains all her feistiness but feels better written. Also, its great having Rory as a full time TARDIS member with Darvill adding an extra dynamic to the team and Kingston will always be the highlight of any episode she’s in. The chemistry between the four really makes this episode outstanding. And don’t think I’m going to gloss over how stunning everything looks here - everything from the Doctor’s death scene at Lake Utah to the scenes with Amy and Canton at the orphanage are beautiful to look at and Murray Gold’s score accompanies this well. Even small visual cues such as the tally marks we see whenever the Silence are witnessed all help to build the horror within the episode. All in all, this is an ambitious start to the show’s most ambitious season - its relentlessly paced and packed with ideas, comedy and dialogue as brilliant as ever and even if you disregard the several season arcs this story is building, it’s a brilliant story with a fantastic villain and setting that was bound to be great and still holds up to this day.
THE CURSE OF THE BLACK SPOT (5/10)
It’s inevitable that an intentionally lighter episode that comes after such an action pack two parter was going to pale in comparison, and because of how arc heavy this season is, some of the filler episodes feel exactly that – the first of these is really one of the worst this season has to offer though. We have a decent setting here with a stranded pirate ship in the middle of the misty sea providing potential for some decent tension and a respectable cast including Hugh Bonneville. But any potential this story has is squandered by a forgettable supporting cast, including another addition to the long list of bad Doctor Who child actors, and a villain that has zero personality or intrigue behind it - the Siren genuinely could’ve been terrifying, as could the whole story, but is completely wasted. There is some fun to be had watching this one though if you’re willing to completely sit back for 45 minutes, especially through Darvill’s performance as what looks like a very drunk Rory, but the episode is bland overall – it’s visually dull and doesn’t have the characters or performances to raise it up.
THE DOCTOR’S WIFE (8.5/10)
Here’s yet another one that fans love yet I’m not quite as enthused with – don’t get me wrong though, this is a particularly good episode. Suranne Jones' performance as Idris/The TARDIS is madcap and brilliant and is by far the most entertaining aspect of this episode and her chemistry with Smith, who pulls in a sublime performance here too, is fantastic - all of their scenes together are brilliant to watch and this episode is worth viewing for her performance alone. House is a great villain that’s very enjoyable despite only hearing its voice and it’s nice to get a villain that doesn’t have a forced redemption arc (see the previous episode) and loves nothing more than to toy with its prey. There’s a fantastic atmosphere, a brilliant story, and a lot of tension in this one but I would've loved this to have been a two parter. Everything could’ve and should’ve been explored a lot more – House’s true power could’ve been shown a lot more, more scenes between Smith and Jones (see what I did there?) would obviously be a joy, and the scenes with Amy and Rory would’ve been the perfect chance to explore the TARDIS more but instead end up falling flat for me. Neil Gaiman really knocks it out of the park with his first script for the show and the performances are top-notch, but this story could’ve made a bigger impact on me personally if it made more of it’s potential.
THE REBEL FLESH/THE ALMOST PEOPLE (7/10)
This is a story that often ends up feeling understated in the grand scheme of this season because of its simplicity and familiar plot but that is what really makes this one appealing for me. The supporting characters for this story are fantastic and all have memorable characters - Jimmy is a fantastic emotional crux and Cleaves is a brilliantly written and conflicted character but the standout by miles is Jennifer, with the actress balancing the sympathetic and terrifying elements of her character very well. Smith also gives a more restrained performance in this story as the two Doctors and Rory is given a lot to do with his open-mindedness to the situation proving to be a great character journey within this story. The design of the Gangers as really pale veiny humans is quite unnerving and they leave a lasting impression - conceptually they're similar to the Ood with their usage as a reflection of labour and a right to live but it’s not the first time Who has recycled plot elements and it works well within the story being told. Writer Matthew Graham and director Julian Simpson also draw from a wide range of horror sources, from the visual and body horror with the Gangers and setting the story in a gloomy, abandoned monastery really helps the Gothic horror elements come forward – being a huge horror fan, these parts of the episode really work for me.
This tale is not without flaws though – there is some seriously dodgy CGI involving Jennifer in a couple of scenes that really takes you out of the experience and they should’ve stuck with more practical based effects and the pace, particularly in the second part, ends up being horrifically slow at times with entire scenes contributing nothing to the overall story. The cliffhanger is obviously shocking but what makes it work is that it’s both completely left-field but also very well telegraphed throughout this episode (namely telling Amy to breathe and "push, but only when she tells you to) but it does overshadow what was a more slow-burn story and makes the episode feel entirely in service of the season arc. Despite this though, it’s a story that’s held up by some great performances, great characters, and decent visuals – a better pace could’ve made this an all-time classic.
A GOOD MAN GOES TO WAR (9/10)
If you’re ever looking for an episode that shows Moffat at his best, then this one would work well – there’s awesome dialogue, brilliant twists and great character work in a script that just succeeds despite the pressure. This episode really shows how far each character has come over the past season and a half - Rory has gone from an underconfident idiot to a fearless badass that confronts an entire legion of Cybermen while spaceships explode in the background to find his wife. The Doctor’s arc as a Godlike legend which has been building since Season 4 reaches its peak, bringing hordes of aliens who were against him not one season ago to aid him and getting entire armies to turn at his name, as River Song said, just for it to all crash down around him. Speaking of, the River Song reveal is handled well and, while it’s obvious for even a first time viewer at this point that she is the Doctor's wife, the reveal that she is Amy and Rory's daughter is fantastic and manages blows the season wide open without breaking it (yet). There is a missed opportunity with not bringing the Silence back despite the Monks being cool, though they get completely overshadowed by the criminally underused Madame Kovarian, with Frances Barber giving a scene-chewing performance. Even for a single episode trying to do a hell of a lot, there are a few issues regarding pacing in this one, particularly regarding the weirdly calm middle section which can drag contrasting with a final battle so rushed that we don’t even see it happen. A Good Man tries to do a hell of a lot and is purely in service of the season arc but it’s a thoroughly entertaining watch anyway!
LET’S KILL HITLER (6/10)
I could write an entire thesis on why Let’s Kill Hitler is one of the most fundamentally flawed episodes Who has ever given us, but I’ll start with the good stuff. The Teselecta is a great concept that could’ve been the sole focus of this story and it would’ve been a decent affair overall and there is a lot of fun to be had with this episode with no chance of getting bored at any point. The performances in this one are decent overall (when are they not?). The 1940s Germany setting, including Hitler, looks nice but contributes nothing to the story apart from two things - to introduce the Teselecta’s main concept and to give us a wacky ‘wE'vE lOcKeD hItLeR iN a CuPboArD' joke – I’m glad that this episode didn’t dedicate an entire episode to Hitler because that would’ve been awful, but the story didn’t need to be set here.
The real issue of this episode is unfortunately what comprises the bulk of this story and that’s the undisputed fact that it dropped the ball on River Song’s story arc. First of all we meet Mels, an unlikeable character with one personality trait (she's baaaaaad) and a reveal that’s shoehorned in in every way imaginable – the character goes from never being mentioned or seen to being Amy and Rory’s best friends, matchmaker and even the namesake of their child (entirely for the sake of a Moffat bootstrap paradox). Mels then regenerates into River, a baaaaaad woman who loves riding a motorbike and stealing clothes - Kingston makes this watchable though and is clearly having fun – and goes from being engineered to kill the Doctor to giving him her regeneration cycle because… the Teselecta tells her she’s good? This episode rushes through proceedings far too much and River’s redemption should’ve been stretched over the next few episodes because it completely oversimplifies her arc, and it doesn't feel rewarding. Whereas the previous episode was entirely devoted to the story arc but worked very well, this one ends up being the opposite. I do enjoy this episode largely due to some excellent performances, especially by Kingston, but it instantly goes down for butchering what should’ve been an awesome arc.
NIGHT TERRORS (4/10)
I never have high hopes when stepping into a Mark Gatiss episode, because you know you’re going to get an awesome idea that ends up ruined by a bland script. There’s a good performance from Daniel Mays that actually manages to outdo the main cast who are clearly bored and the dollhouse is a nice, if a little dull, set piece that helps to build the intrigue here, but then the Peg Dolls are introduced. And I'm sure that, with their design and creepy laughter, they’re scary to children but to me they're not intimidating at all – the only part I find them a genuine threat in is when the block residents are transformed into Peg Dolls themselves, but we know this isn’t permanent the moment Amy succumbs to the same fate, leading up to a predictable ‘love saves the day’ ending. The supporting cast aside from Daniel Mays is awful – the child actor is on Fear Her levels of bad and is about as wooden as the peg dolls themselves and the old woman who gets sucked into the bins (what?) is hammy in the worst way possible. There’s also a twist for what feels like the sake of having a twist here with George being an alien, that sticks out like a sore thumb in what was otherwise a formulaic episode and, although probably not Gatiss’ fault, having zero reference to the season arc in any way feels dodgy. Skip!
THE GIRL WHO WAITED (9/10)
I could give you links to two scenes (and here) and leave my review there, because this episode is not only a refreshing break from what’s come before, but also a fantastic character driven piece. By giving Rory the dilemma of choosing between the young Amy, who still has her whole life, or the old Amy, heartbroken, hardened and wanting nothing more than to get away, we get a great storyline that not only puts Rory in the hotseat rather than Amy, but also some stellar performances. Gillan is great as the two Amy's, conveying heartbreak, humour, anger and all the emotions needed and more throughout the episode and Darvill shines as Rory with some fantastic and is set up as not only as the one who questions the Doctor’s morality but also leaves him to save Amy. One thing about this one really bugs me is the too simple way the conflict is set up - "push the button". Why does Amy not ask which button when literally anyone else would ask that question or why does Rory not specify which button to press? Could they not all just leave the room and go back to the TARDIS? The setup for this episode isn't great but a brilliantly paced and emotional script made even better by Gillan and Darvill’s performances makes this a well-constructed character driven story overall that goes down as a classic for me.
THE GOD COMPLEX (10/10)
It would’ve been so easy for this one to be a basic, Night Terrors sort-of story that doesn’t try to say anything and instead sticks to its basic plot of a group of misfits being terrorised by a Minotaur. What we get instead is a mature examination of faith, how it manifests (through luck. religion, conspiracy or a person) and how it can be exploited, not only by the main foe of the piece but by the Doctor too, who often knowingly has companions that put their faith and life in his hands. It’s a fantastic breakdown of the Doctor as a character who relies on the faith of his companions as part of the God Complex he has developed, and is a great continuation from the events of A Good Man. While it’s the second episode in a row that tests Amy's faith in the Doctor yet rather than showing that Amy should have faith in the Doctor because he will always save her, this episode asks her to abandon that faith and trust in herself and ends with the Doctor returning Amy to Earth – heavy stuff. Even without this, the episode is fantastic – the supporting characters, particularly Rita, are all memorable, the Minotaur is a fantastically designed and menacing villain and the retro-looking hotel is a simple set but also one of the better looking ones this season. The only thing I dislike is the reveal that the whole hotel is an alien spaceship when it felt more suitable for the Minotaur to be imprisoned in the hotel itself. Outside of this, the episode just doesn't falter - it’s not flashy or cliched or trying to throw twists in your face for the sake of it. Instead there's brilliant pacing, brilliant acting, and the right amount of humour and emotion so that it doesn't get too melodramatic but still ends up being affecting. I have a lot of love for this one.
CLOSING TIME (4/10)
To say I liked Craig’s first appearance in The Lodger is an understatement, but his second appearance falls flat in comparison. Craig’s dilemma of him not being a good dad feels familiar because a father child bond was literally investigated three episodes ago and feels subpar when compared to his development in his previous outing. Also, The Cybermen are back in their first solo story since the dreadful The Next Doctor... and they don't fare much better in this episode because they don't feel like any sort of threat whatsoever, mostly playing second fiddle to the DoctoCraig shenanigans, which just aren't as entertaining this time as they're encased in a rubbish story. Both plot-threads are even resolved by another power of love ending for Craig’s plot, the Cyberman plot and this season overall and doesn’t feel rewarding. What makes this episode worse is that The Doctor is at his most insufferable here, with the script using the baby-speaking joke from A Good Man to death and turning the social awkwardness dial up to 11 – at least there are a few good moments within this episode where the Doctor and Craig’s chemistry is at the forefront and an affecting scene involving Amy and Rory also features. This episode just isn’t fun and is only made worse by its blatant rehash of plots and jokes done previously but without the imagination.
THE WEEDING OF RIVER SONG (7.5/10)
And now we come to the end of the season and given that the main arcs were so complicated, there never was going to be an easy way to tie this up and the episode, unfortunately, buckles under its own weight. The episode’s opening segment is easily the worst part for me - despite a greatest hits montage of characters all featuring and an interesting hook of all of time happening at one, the script chooses to spend the first 15 minutes with Churchill and the Doctor hurling clunky exposition at us in an effort to catch us up on how the world is ending this time in one of the most unnatural pieces of writing Moffat has ever given us. Everything else after this is solid enough, with the episode having some highly entertaining scenes with the Silence and the pyramid and a titular wedding between River Song and the Doctor (despite the fact she was trying to kill him a handful of episodes ago) being the highlights of this episode for me. The entire story involving Amy and Kovarian that had an entire episode dedicated to it previously is resolved in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scene that’s undone by the end of the episode and the Doctor’s death is resolved in what feels like the most obvious way yet at the same time feels too clever for its own good. There are some good character beats to be seen here, but some aren’t rewarding enough.
See, the problems for me here rest entirely on its rushed and less thought out script that rushes at breakneck speed to wrap up the several plot threats gathered this season. This story sorely needed splitting into two episodes because there’s clearly two stories crying out for extra room here - the first part being a pure Doctor-centric episode where he attempts to find the answers and a way to escape his impending doom before finding himself at Silencio Lake at the end of the episode and the second part focusing solely on the alternative timeline and finishing off the season. That’s not to say the episode is a complete write off, because Moffat manages to answer most of the questions not only from this season but also the previous one and even manages to set up some of Season 7 in the process. It’s even a decent and watchable affair with plenty of thrills to be had while watching but it falls apart the moment you step away and that sucks out a fair amount of enjoyment to be had with this episode. It’s a shame that the conclusion to the most ambitious arcs ever on Who ended so messy when it would’ve been made infinitely better by having more room to breathe.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Have you heard the story of Icarus? To sum it up, the mythological character was gifted wax wings by his father and, despite being warned not to fly to close to the sun, does so, melting his wings in the process and drowning after he falls into the sea. I’m using this as a perfect way to sum up Moffat in Season 6 because ambition got the better of them both and they suffered because of it. Moffat tried to juggle way too many plot threads in Season 6 and, despite a brilliant set up, didn’t manage to deliver the endings they needed. His reputation as a brilliant writer who could balance his stories perfectly felt like it suffered after this season because everything ended up becoming a confusing mush towards the ending that, even after several rewatches, I can never quite make sense of. If any season was deserving of the Season 9 treatment, it would be this one as having mostly two-part stories and removing the filler would instantly elevate this season and give the story more room to breathe. Doctor Who won’t get as ambitious as this for a long while and Season 6 could’ve been a classic, had it not crumbled under its own weight.

2020.11.11 09:49 cant_ignore_cheese NuWho Season Six Ranked, Reviewed and Rated from Someone Who Can’t Ignore Cheese

I could give you links to my two favourite scenes (here and here) and leave my review there, because this episode is not only a refreshing break from what’s come before, but also a fantastic character driven piece.
Enduring Spiritual Themes: Harlotry vs Cleanliness and Repentance

What is an Enduring Spiritual Theme? An Enduring Spiritual Theme may be something timeless. It may be The Form of Something. The Children of God was a cult that some Hollywood Celebrities were apart of. They sexualized something that is The Form of Something. Madonna "Like a Prayer" or other songs that talk about Church like it is in the bedroom, or a Priest that hurt someone is The Form of Something like Plato's The Forms. The sin is the same type of sin. They were all doing the same type of things. It was just dressed up in some way like a woman wearing makeup or someone wearing a mask?
Enduring Spiritual Themes
Lets look at some themes:
This isn't hard. These are Enduring Spiritual Themes. With Enduring Spiritual Themes someone may be able to see God. They may be able to see Satan. Why Satan? The Spiritual has worked in particular ways. Crowley for example, was really motivated to mock God and Christianity. How far was he willing to go? The Bible gives specific things God was angry at Israel for. We have primary sources on what Crowley was doing.
Lets look at some more themes.
Looking at Enduring Spirital Themes, Satanism has often been displayed in "sex magic" which may have been like Baal Worship, Crowley, Rasputin, or Killing Kittens linked to a Friend of Kate Middleton who tends to attract higher class clientele. That type thing is not hard to link to someone like Bill Mayer. Article: https://nypost.com/2017/02/01/inside-las-most-exclusive-sex-party/
Song: "Sundown."
Song: "Prisoner."
What is Faith?
Faith is a knowledgeable dependence. Who is God? What is God's character? How does God work in the world? How does someone lean on him? Someone growing in faith is working to answer these questions.
Faith is a lot like marriage. Lets say a man wanted to be married. He goes to a matchmaker. He wants a wife. The Matchmaker finds him a wife. A date is set. He may not have ever seen her before. In going to a match maker and expressing a desire to be married, he may have taken a leap of faith. He may not have even have seen her face. On his wedding day, he lifts her veil. A lifting of the veil may be an apocalypse. An opening of the eyes. Regardless of who he is marrying, he vows till death do us part. He has the rest of his life to grow in a relationship of trust with his wife. That is Faith. Faith starts with belief. Faith is a relationship, a knowledgeable dependence.

2020.11.01 22:01 ArcheXerxes General feedback/ Quality of Life update.

Fixes: -When switching from riot shield to weapon and tap shoot; riot shield will attack instead of swapped weapon -Molotovs disappear mid air if you die . No other grenade does this
Missed opportunities: Saw theme song for vehicle Pumpkin head explode on head shot
Quality of life: 1.In warzone, when a box is dropped. Double tap square on loadout should be a quick pickup but randomize the loadout you get. Would be fun for people who like to switch up their play styles.
  1. I wish there was a way to display that I won a warzone in the next game I play. When a team that just won its previous game gets team wiped/eliminated; have a thunder clap play for all players to hear. Have it show on the kill feel in gold names or something. Give us anything
  2. Come out with more skins and stuff but improve the economy. There is not enough ways to make CP for how much content your pushing
  3. Demascus and obsidian need a tracer or sound effect kill. These are hard to accomplish. Demascus should melt . Obsidian should turn to dust.
  4. Stop coming out with "yearly games" for $70. Let's move to the new genre of seasons/" year of the" type style of content. I feel more comfortable buying skins instead of yearly games as payment
  5. Bring back prestige. Your season Leavell/battlepass can stay but for the live of God bring back prestige as well.
  6. Multiplayer: give us two killstreak setups to swap from in game similar to loadout.
  7. Let us edit loadouts during the matchmaking in warzone.
  8. Your streamers should be earning CP for their content creation.
10.whoever partakes in a kill should hear the hot mic
  1. Include the option to heabe heard on the kill. Would like to hear what my opponents were saying when I die. Should be able to switch this on and off for those who don't care.
Improvements:
1.Amped: lock on targets faster with rocket launchers 2.Double time: recover from sliding a little faster 3.Fix some of your awful tier weapons like SKS, scar,fennec,iso,striker,pp19,sa87,mg34,crossbow,drag

2020.11.01 10:52 rcanbian Some Santana insults that point towards her being a nerd

This girl tries to play off being this cool, big, bad bitch, but she pulls all these obscure references out of her ass at the drop of a hat, I'm not convinced that she isn't, like, a huge media (TV/movie/comic book/music) nerd :))) (long post, but I'm so fond of the nerd!Santana headcanon :))) )
Edited out some quotes that were actually pretty pop culture at the time (thank you for the comments! I'm not American, I just got really excited about secret nerd Santana after rewatching S2 :)) )
"Check out Dwarf Dianne Warren."
A musician who rose to prominence in the 1980s and was given an Ivor Novello award to honor her achievements in songwriting and composing. I love how she was familiar enough with her to use it as an insult against Rachel when she suggested writing original songs for Regionals :))
"That’s right Yentl: your sweetheart’s been lying to you because he and I totally got it on last year."
A Barbra Streisand film from the 1980s (based on the 1970s play). It'd play into Santana being a vintage film buff, but I wouldn't put it past her to have researched Barbra Streisand appearances just so she had fodder for Rachel; either way, they're both pretty nerdy 👀
"You know what, this is not- Hey honeys, it's not a Big Red commercial. No me gusta!"
Referencing a 1985 Big Red Commercial :))) Girl really knows her obscure media, huh? (Unless it's an ad that US teens are very familiar with, lmao, correct me if I'm wrong).
" I can't go to an Indigo Girls concert. I just can't. "
I wouldn't put it past Santana to just research all the lesbian stereotypes just so she could reference them , but she could also be the type to be into a variety of different musical genres and be pretty knowledgeable about their background (see also: the Jah Babylon poster she has hung up in her bedroom which could point to her being a big reggae fan (unless it's up there because she's knowledgeable about the Rastafarian movement, or she associates it with 420 culture, which are also plausible).
"Do you think this voodoo doll looks enough like Rachel Berry to actually work?"
Girl really took the time to make a voodoo doll...who tf does that :))) (Also lmao, if anyone's interested in the possible connections between Santana and Afro-Carribean culture, Imma direct you to this fun little piece)
"Nah na na let me tell you how its gon be... if I may..when I look at someone, I don't see someone who looks a certain way or has this or that amount of chromosomes."
Something they teach in all high school biology classrooms, but it's just super amusing to me that she used it when going on a tirade ajkdnajksd (sorry Becky!)
"You think that Great Gazoo kid is a leprechaun?"
A character from the Flintstones :))) I watched the show as a kid, but I would not be able to have named him without Googling him even if my life was in danger :)))
"Admit it, Wonder Twins. The only reason why the New Directions beat the Troubletones at Sectionals is because that pervy clown judge was freaking high as a kite"
A twin superhero duo that debuted in the 1970s on animated TV show The All-New Super Friends Hour with some other appearances in other DC media, most notably Smallville. The funniest thing about this to me is that they had a pet monkey named Gleek HAHAHA
"Hey Andrew McCarthy, don’t know if you heard but Blaine may lose an eye, the same Blaine who was just besties with you not four months ago."
Would the typical popular cheerleader know this 1980s guy by name? lmao
"Why don’t you save the lecture for the theater nerds that are gonna starve in New York while desperately trying to tap dance their way into the chorus of Godspell?"
Is there anyone who isn't even a little bit into Broadway who'd know what Godspell is? :))
"And Pablo Escobar? Did he ever come home?"
Reference to Columbian drug lord who was the topic of popular TV series Narcos :))) It's pretty popular actually, but I can totally see Santana getting hooked on the series :))
"I have known you both for years and I don't like either of you 90% of the time, in fact, your wide-eyed, Keane-painting approach to life makes my teeth hurt and my breasts ache with rage."
Margaret Keane, a painter known for her paintings revolving around subjects with big eyes. Also, subject of a biopic starring Amy Adams ("Big Eyes"), which I enjoyed. I can totally see Santana being an Amy Adams fan :)))
"Oh, come on. You are not playing Yente the lesbian match maker."
Reference to Yente the matchmaker from Fiddler on the Roof :))) She's totally watched either a bootleg of the play or the 1970s film, and it's a toss-up whether she did it on own accord or Rachel made her watch it with her :)))

2020.10.29 00:38 conelover1234 Suggestion

The demo credits should be dependent in which elimination method you use. For example: Non-lethal like, befriending, matchmaking, etc. should use Star-Crossed Lovers. And lethal methods should use the genocide song.
Also, Yandere-chan should have an echo voice when she says "He just doesn't know it yet" before the beggining of Amai's week.

This is a tired topic, but S9 matchmaking seemingly is designed to break the human mind..

2020.10.20 09:20 TwistyBits Beat Saber multiplayer and song packs/dlc ?

I have only played MP with the built-in songs, but I am wondering how it would work with DLC packs.. How does matchmaking work if I would only have 1-2 packs? What if only buy a few songs? Does everyone in the lobby need to have the same packs?
